Now I know crime is wrong and fraud is wrong e.t.c... but I honestly have to admire this guy for the sheer balls of doing what he did.

From The Sun online.

A BRAZEN thief bagged himself a £330 refund in Aldi – for a TV he had just picked off the shelf.

The man walked into the discount supermarket on Wragby Road, Lincoln on January 2 and grabbed the box from the shop floor.

He then walked to a till and asked the cashier for a refund for the Bauhn 49ins Smart TV but was directed to speak to the manager when he revealed he didn’t have a receipt.

He shook hands with the manager before returning to the till, leading the cashier into believing he was fine to issue a refund.

The man was then refunded £329.99 for the TV which he had not bought.

Stupid store policy. If they don't have a receipt don't give them cash, give them a gift card to the store at most

Yes most stores wouldn't give you cash without a receipt. Bet he knew their policy. He's on CCTV and police are looking for him.

Yep according to a poster on DS, a group of people were targetting different shops in one town and some shop staff were in on it but all are now in jail apparently.

I don't admire anything about it, there is a loophole in their procedure that needs to be remedied to prevent this sort of thing occurring again. I see nothing to admire in a criminal act.

I'm still a bit confused as to why we should be celebrating it? I mean, a crime is a crime, right?

I heard of a man who took a new telly back as he said there was nothing good on it so wanted a different make.

He didn't take an empty box. He picked up a display TV in it's box and took that to the checkout!

No idea. You'd think there'd be some way they would know whether it had been bought already or not wouldn't you? rolleyes.gif

I lost count of the amount of people that tried to do this when I worked in retail.

I actually noticed one guy pick up an expensive coat when I worked in in M&S once, and then walked over to the till and gave the 'it was a gift but I wasn't given the receipt' story.

I said I'd just seen him pick it up off the rack and I suggested he put it straight back and leave unless he wanted security called immediately!
