Broadchurch will return for its third and final series on Monday 27th February at 9pm on ITV! Olivia Colman and David Tennant will be returning as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller who will be investigating a sexual assault case and the emotional fallout from this. Lots of the cast from the first two series will also be returning such as Arthur Darvill (taking time off from his US show Legends of Tommorrow), Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan. Some of the new cast includes Julie Hesmondhalgh, Lenny Henry, Sunetra Sarker, Charlie Higson, Sarah Parish and Georgina Campbell. So lots of big names involved! Really looking forward to this! The first series was obviously fantastic and while the second series wasn't up to the same standards, as there wasn't the same level of investment in either storyline, the fact that a new story is being told should hopefully make it worthwhile. Although I suspect it won't be completely over regarding the Danny Latimer case... |

I think they're going to learn from the backlash they received from the second season and really go out with a bang with these last few episodes.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Julie Hesmondhalgh in such a prominent roll! |

though I'm glad it is ending (didn't enjoy series 2, at all) it's nice that they've at least decided to go with a new story.
it will replace that stupid programme about the hotel, anyway (which I watched for like 3 episodes and got bored of) |

The problem with the second series was that it took everything that was bad about the first series and made a story out of it.
What was so great about the first series was the mystery of who killed Danny. I still did enjoy the second series, but the mystery did just not have anywhere near the same engagement as the initial mystery. |

The show definitely seems to be back on track again after that first episode! Really set the whole series up perfectly and handled such a sensitive issue very well I felt. I like that they've linked up the Latimers with the new case through the mother being the support worker. It means that its more natural to continue following their story as well.
I think it set up the mystery perfectly and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series, moreso than I was before I watched the episode! |

I didn't watch the first two series but I've really enjoyed this one. There's a great sense of mystery yet the topic at hand has been portrayed with respect and realistically too.
Maybe it's just my head going into overdrive trying to think who the culprit is, but I'm starting to believe it's actually a woman. |

Maybe it's just my head going into overdrive trying to think who the culprit is, but I'm starting to believe it's actually a woman. That's what a couple of people have said on Digital Spy. Maybe a woman with a dildo, someone who's husband she slept with hence her wanting revenge. Would be a first for a TV drama I think, a woman rapist. Surely the prime suspect would have to be the mild and meek wife of Clive, the taxi driver. I'm guessing that's who Trish slept with on the morning of the party.

That's a very good theory actually, would make sense at this early stage! I was definitely thinking along the same lines of it being a woman when I was watching this week's episode. There seems to be such emphasis on it being a man (obviously a kind of given, because of the nature of the crime) but the dialogue really seems to emphasis the male nature of it all and it being a woman, or having a woman involved in some form, would be the unexpected angle. Her sleeping with a woman on the morning could also help to explain why she doesn't want to name that person.
Really getting interesting now that we're exploring the suspects and discovering how they all are shifty and are holding secrets! It was a bit blunt the way that the daughter told her dad that she'd been raped though, not sure that was the best way of communicating that! The show's definitely back on form even if I still enjoyed Series 2. |

Yeah, there's nothing that would explicitly suggest it was a woman in what we've seen so far, but more the emphasis on males in the dialogue seems to distract you from the thought that in fact a woman could have been the suspect. That would be quite a strong statement for the show and ITV to make and I'd applaud them for that.

I have a horrific feeling it's gonna turn out to be Ellie's son.

I was thinking the same but I don't know how it would be possible with the rape from 2 years before
Loving this series so much <3 |

They're really working hard to make everyone a possible suspect this time around. Which is both clever and extremely frustrating.
I absolutely do not want it to be Ellie's son. That would be a horrible outcome. She's by far the best thing about this whole series and I'd rather not have it end with her being completely destroyed. They're clearly hinting that it's possible though - could the video he's been watching on his phone be the rape that he filmed on his phone? This ties in with the light Trish remembered, like the flash from a phone recording? I've also changed my mind about my first prime suspect from my previous post. I still think it could be a woman though, but I'm strongly suspecting Cath now. |

With all the evidence pointing towards him, I think we can rule Lenny Henry out of it!
Last night's episode was another good one, definitely feels like its closing in. The porn storyline must have something to do with it all but, again, taxi driver is too obvious and I would also hate it to be her son. obviously still potential for taxi driver's wife~. The whole topic area has been handled fantastically, really commendable that all the issues that surround it have been brought up naturally and sensitively. Definitely not exploitive like many other dramas do. I like that we're also seeing that Danny's death is still having an impact on the Latimers too, that ending </3 |

I'm thinking it could be the taxi drivers son? But then part of me refuses to shake the feeling Cath is SOMEHOW involved.
The ending of last nights episode was absolutely heartbreaking. The guy who plays Mark is bloody brilliant. More misery heeped onto the Latimers though? Part of me thinks he'll have somehow survived. |

Just one episode left!
That finding of one of the guy's DNA on the sock seems to suggest that one of the five guys definitely is involved in some way (either solely or partially) then! Obviously, the usual aspect of a whodunnit means that someone who isn't a suspect is actually the culprit though. They all seem like really obvious culprits aside from her ex-husband, I can't see him doing it and I think that would be disappointing if it was him. I can't see it being Lenny Henry either, especially after last week's episode was basically devoted to him being the prime suspect. Having the end of the episode be the wife's discovery of finding Trish's keys is slightly odd because we knew they were there quite early on in the series. Therefore, its probably a red herring to put him as the rapist which makes me think he's not involved. Although he is up to some suspicious and creepy activity. So many questions and I can't even come up with a theory aside from a belief that a woman was involved, although that might undermine the ending with the walk for Trish. I do just still hope that it isn't Ellie's son but I do think that his storyline is just to make the taxi driver look more suspicious. |

Feels like this adds more fuel to it being Ellie's son? |
