Couldn't find one for 2017, but an interesting and potentially severe event is forecast tomorrow afternoon across parts of England and Wales (for wind) and Scotland (for snow).

The Met Office have issued amber warnings for snow across southern Scotland, but the more worrying hazard would appear to be the very strong winds that will develop to the south of the low. These tracking in from the Irish Sea across Manchester during the late morning, the Midlands and into East Anglia and Lincolnshire by the late afternoon.

Gusts inland of 80 mph quite widely which would be quite disruptive to power supplies and across travel networks are likely and addition danger of injury from flying debris. We have very few storms this winter so a lot of trees and branches are likely to come down.

One computer run showed a ‘sting jet’ across into East Anglia during the afternoon (not completely out of the question given the setup) which was last experienced in the UK during the St Jude's Day storm and brought damaging gusts across the SE and in particular Denmark on 26th October 2013.

Yeah I'm not really worried about Dorris. Scotland gets a fair few of these each year and theyre always overhyped by the London based media the second they dip below the border. 80mph sustained will close the bridges but they'll probably be able to keep them open and the trains running for most of the day if not all of it

It's warm and sunny here, which has sent everyone into a panic since it is Scotland.

We haven't really had many of these storms this winter have we? I don't remember which 'name' we were up to this time last year?

I love extreme weather and winter, kinda sad that spring is just around the corner

I think last year we passed the ten mark. Not sure what the average Number of storms we have om the winter is though I Feel like the last two or three(???) Years will probably have been above average with this year more in line with the norm. I think they do refer to this as the earupean winter windstorm season though.

Yeah it has been a really quiet winter overall - this time last year we were already up to Imogen (ninth storm).

Snow already piling up on the A93 near to Glenshee:

Highest gusts so far today (at low level) was 80 mph at Anglesey - some of those gusts should be realised inland in the next hr or so across Lancashire/Gtr Manchester/Cheshire/Shropshire/Staffs as the storm reaches peak intensity. Lowest depth about 973hPa over the Isle of Man - a little bit below model expectations but given the hook in imagery (satellite and radar) the storm should be starting to occlude and weaken in next few hours.

It's really starting to pick up the pace here in Manchester city centre. The rain is falling horizontally!! Without the rain it wouldn't be too bad out there.

sunny here, no wind. Must be the eye of the hurricane...

Course we had actual major storms on the south coast in 1987 and 1990 - roofs off houses galore crashing on cars, whole forest-worths of trees down all over the place, and sadly several deaths. So I'll be happy with us getting off lightly this time!

Gust of 72 mph at Liverpool airport (0950 Z), 57 mph at Rostherne (S of Manchester) - strongest winds coming inland now I think.
