It's Katy Perry's faaaaaantastic single still on top for the third week, now I've seen the new video as good as that BRITS show she did. The nearest challenger is Little Big Town's lovely version of a song generously donated by Taylor Swift, one of her best songs. So gorgeous Stevie Nicks could have written it. That leaves a big climb to 5 for Chainsmokers and Coldplay, not the first time for either of them, and extending Coldplay's run of top 10's to 17 years. Imelda May has a first ever top 10, after coming close many times, while Black Tears also gives Jeff Beck his first top 10 since, err, his first top 10 in 1972 with his 1967 classic party hit Hi Hi Silver Lining. Hope it was worth the 45 year wait Jeff! Nancy Sinatra gets yet another oldie in my top 10, with her advert song, while Johnny Cash (another 60's veteran, albeit late in his case) has an advert-boosted (movie Logan) return to my chart for the 4th time for his awesome Nine Inch Nails cover, Hurt. In at 30. Above and Beyond grab another top 10, Take That a top 20 24 years on from their first, Lana Del Ray has another top 40 entry, and Alison Krauss is back with 2 new (oldie covers) entries 20 years on from her first entries which was also a bluegrass cover. These are more lush country than bluegrass but her voice is still topnotch on the Glen Campbell cover Gentle On My Mind, and the Brenda Lee cover Losing You. Finally, Texas sneak in for a run of 28 years of chart entries, yay Sharlene! 1 1 1 4 CHAINED TO THE RHYTHM Katy Perry featuring Skip Marley 529250 2 5 2 4 BETTER MAN Little Big Town 235200 3 3 3 3 TOI ET MOI Paradis 192000 4 2 2 7 BE THE ONE Dua Lipa 489000 5 34 5 2 SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS The Chainsmokers and Coldplay 77600 6 4 1 6 LOVE LIKE WE USED TO Captain Cuts featuring Nateur 630000 7 7 5 7 BEAUTIFUL CRIME Tamer 344250 8 12 8 5 BLACK TEARS Imelda May featuring Jeff Beck 145600 9 14 9 5 THE LAST OF THE SECRET AGENTS Nancy Sinatra 97600 10 16 10 4 ANOTHER CHANCE Above And Beyond presenting Oceanlab 90400 11 6 6 5 FIRE IN MY SOUL Walk Off The Earth 171750 12 8 8 7 MOVING ON AND GETTING OVER John Mayer 203250 13 9 1 10 A DIFFERENT CORNER George Michael 1222000 14 27 14 4 CLOUDBUSTING Just Us 75900 15 18 15 3 HARD AS DIAMONDS NUSSY 61300 16 11 7 9 CALL ON ME (RYAN RIBACK REMIX) Starley 287300 17 13 1 17 WHEN YOU KNOW Robbie Williams 1990000 18 21 18 3 KALEIDOSCOPE Fenech-Soler 52350 19 10 8 6 MOVE Saint Motel 184000 20 37 20 3 GIANTS Take That 48550 21 17 4 9 HAND TO MOUTH George Michael 273850 22 15 5 7 YOU’RE GONNA LIVE FOREVER IN ME John Mayer 251500 23 31 23 2 LOVE ON Dave Ramone featuring Minelli 37150 24 29 24 5 FUN Blondie 83000 25 25 4 9 COWBOYS AND ANGELS George Michael 302250 26 36 26 2 A KIND OF LOVE Marc Almond 35900 27 38 27 3 PAPER GAMES Kaneholler 46000 28 20 17 7 FAITH Stevie Wonder featuring Ariana Grande 139400 29 23 8 9 SHAPE OF YOU Ed Sheeran 274700 30 NEW 30 1 HURT Johnny Cash 18000 31 19 14 7 WE ALL NEED ODESZA featuring Shy Girls 149150 32 57 32 2 LOVE Lana Del Ray 28200 33 40 33 3 GIVE ME A BREAK STOP NOW REOL 44900 34 28 7 11 GOOD MORNING Grouplove 317000 35 35 35 10 PICTURES OF MATCHSTICK MEN Status Quo 134800 36 22 22 6 AUTOMATON Jamiroquai 88300 37 30 4 20 CLOSER The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey 653400 38 24 24 4 BELIEVER Imagine Dragons 72400 39 33 2 15 SECRETS The Weeknd featuring Tears For Fears 922300 40 NEW 40 1 GENTLE ON MY MIND Alison Krauss 17000 41 39 19 8 SWEET TREATS Right Said Fred 146550 42 53 42 2 SHOW YOU THE WAY Thundercat featuring Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins 25000 43 26 16 7 IN HELL I’LL BE IN GOOD COMPANY The Dead South 133700 44 42 21 7 GOOD GIRLS Crystal Fighters 121100 45 58 45 2 YESTERDAY’S SONG Hunter Hayes 23200 46 44 4 9 SOUL FREE George Michael 293000 47 52 47 17 OH, PRETTY WOMAN Roy Orbison 121000 48 48 1 19 KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU Abba 916950 49 49 9 12 STAR CROSSED LOVERS Barry Gibb 235950 50 32 32 6 I DON’T MIND Nemo Schiffman 80100 51 51 18 9 YOU’RE NOT THERE Lukas Graham 144800 52 41 33 6 BABY Bakermat 85800 53 43 31 5 ANYMORE Goldfrapp 66350 54 45 18 8 TESTIFY Hifi Sean featuring Crystal Waters 130500 55 NEW 55 1 LOSING YOU Alison Krauss 10800 56 54 1 25 HURTS Emeli Sande 1308150 57 NEW 57 1 SAVING LIGHT Gareth Emery & Standerwick featuring HALIENE 10400 58 47 29 8 TALKING TO YOU Izzy Bizu 113300 59 NEW 59 1 PARADISE My First Band 10100 60 60 60 3 THE SCIENTIST Corinne Bailey Rae 30000 61 46 37 6 PLAY THAT SONG Train 68150 62 65 62 2 LOVE ME BETTER James Blunt 14400 63 59 5 17 BRUCE LEE Robbie Williams 476000 64 64 64 4 SKIN Rag’n’Bone Man 27400 65 68 65 2 NO MATTER Frances 13400 66 70 66 3 DO IT AGAIN SOLDOUT featuring GOOSE 18000 67 69 67 3 YOU’RE A LADY Peter Skellern 18200 68 NEW 68 1 I KNOW A PLACE MUNA 6400 69 NEW 69 1 ONLY YOU Jack Savoretti 6200 70 73 70 2 CIRCLE OF LIGHT Emma 11400 71 66 3 18 ROCKABYE Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul & Anne-Marie 560350 72 NEW 72 1 SLIDE Calvin Harris featuring Frank Ocean & Migos 5600 73 NEW 73 1 PINNACLE Tone Damli 5400 74 62 30 7 YOU LOOK GOOD Lady Antebellum 66500 75 NEW 75 1 LET’S WORK IT OUT Texas 5000 DROP OUTS 50 26 6 ALL NIGHT Beyonce 93700 55 16 11 SHED A LIGHT Robin Schulz & David Guetta featuring Cheat Codes 184900 56 4 11 WE STAY TOGETHER Kaiser Chiefs featuring Sarah Thomson 409300 61 27 7 NOT EASY Alex Da Kid featuring X Ambassadors, Elle King & Wiz Khalifa) 94950 63 63 5 GOODBYE 2NE1 34200 67 27 8 SILHOUETTE Tom Odell 121800 71 6 21 STARBOY The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk 424600 72 68 4 WHERE’S THE REVOLUTION Depeche Mode 23800 74 2 24 GO! Good chart Hi Jason, Yes I think that is the biggest French-language track since Jai Cherche - you must teach me how to get those accents in my text though, I feel so inadequate! Yes, not Ed's biggest fan, though I occasionally like his more uptempo stuff. I agree about Lana, her best track in a few years, though I still prefer Video Games. Yes I've also reconsidered that Calvin Harris track and thrown it out of my chart already! I think I wanted to like it, but it sounded quite average on the Chart Show, oops! cheers! john |

Hi John~ always nice to see a Trifoski entry killin it in this chart *.* can only hope you'll enjoy my entry for this month (lord knows it needs all the support it can muster!)
it was cool seeing ol' Fenech-Soler in the BJSC, was a big fan of their debut album in 2010 <3 Kaleidoscope is of course really good, they can still crank out an awesome hook! |
