So we're already a few months into 2017 and I've realised how much music I'm hyped for this year already, which feels like way more than last year ohmy.gif

I've been loving The xx and Ed Sheeran's album so far this year and also have Stormzy to check out, but I'm really hyped for the following:

- alt-J
- Coldplay (EP)
- Gorillaz
- Lana Del Rey
- Lorde

What about you guys, what are you looking forward to this year/which singles and albums have you already been loving?

So far I've really enjoyed the new releases from The xx, Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, and I'm enjoying what I've heard so far from Dua Lipa's album - so hype for that one, even though we've essentially heard the entirety of the album at this point heehee.gif

Yeah, it's been an amazing year for music so far, and the charts have reflected that right up until now where the Ed Sheeran invasion is definitely going to marr the otherwise near flawless charts at the moment. I love the dominance of The Chainsmokers right now, can't wait for their album - they're a lot more welcome to invade the chart, even though I do like Divide.

My favourite song of the year so far is either Samantha by Dave and J HUS, or Chained To The Rhythm by Katy Perry and Skip Marley.

Not only that, they've got their old drummer who left in 2010 back so they're a trio once again!!

2017 is shaping up to be a great year for music indeed! My top 10 singles of the year at this stage would probably be (hard to order at this stage):

Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios
Anton Hagman - Kiss You Goodbye
Daniel Skye - ON
FO&O - Gotta Thing About You
Katy Perry feat. Skip Marley - Chained to the Rhythm
Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me
Little Mix - Touch
Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared to Be Lonely
Nemo Schiffman - I Don't Mind
Robin Schulz, David Guetta & Cheat Codes - Shed a Light

Ed Sheeran has my favourite album of the year so far, only heard two (him and Rag'n'Bone Man) but am very much anticipating future releases from Zara Larsson, Lewis Watson, Katy Perry, Lily Allen, The Vamps and of course Harry Styles among others. Bebe Rexha's EP is also fantastic, a very pleasant surprise wub.gif

Already been to the X Factor live tour this year and have booked tickets to see Ryan Lawrie (VIP meet and greet ticket), Ed Sheeran, The Vamps, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Adele and Little Mix also this year cheer.gif

Kelly Clarkson and Nicki Minaj potentially releasing as well as 5H3 (fingers crossed!).

I'd like to think Ellie and Marina would release too but I can't see Marina releasing anything for a while...

So far, I think my YTD singles top 3 would consist of Little Mix "Touch", The Weeknd feat. Daft Punk "I Feel It Coming" and Katy Perry feat. Skip Marley "Chained to the Rhythm" in that order and my favourite albums so far have been from The xx and the La La Land soundtrack (although I think the albums from both Stormzy and Ed Sheeran may have overtaken those now for me).

In terms of announced albums, I'm excited to hear the new releases from alt-J (both of their albums so far have been phenomenal so yay at them being back), Circa Waves and Zara Larsson. I'm even more excited for new albums from Lorde, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj though so hopefully we do get those this year as planned music.gif

EDIT: Ooooh, and Lana and Haim. Looking to be a great year for music if these all end up as great as their past material *-*

2017 looks like it'll bring the 8th Sugababes album. MKS were in the studio last week and they've got a battle for the name thats looking favourable.

My top 10 songs of the year so far!:
1. Lorde - Green Light
2. Lana Del Rey - Love
3. Emma Stone - Audition (The Fools Who Dream)
4. Katy Perry ft. Skip Marley - Chained To The Rhythm
5. Ace Wilder - Wild Child
6. Ana Mena ft. CNCO - Ahora Lloras Tu
7. Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios
8. Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone - City Of Stars
9. Martin Garrix ft. Dua Lipa - Scared To Be Lonely
Then 10 can be I Don't Wanna Live Forever/You're Welcome (both of which I adore and have been spamming throughout this year but are 2016 releases!)

Also of course Gaga's Super Bowl performance is a massive highlight of the year

And La La Land Soundtrack>>>>>>>>>>everything else this year wub.gif

Normani's on DWTS so 5H3 is probably a given since they're guaranteed promo for the finale

Melfest (and the general Eurovision bubble) has dominated my music this year, Wiktoria - As I Lay Me Down and Loreen - Statements are defintiely my top 2 singles of the year so far. Chained To The Rhythm would probably be next in line <3

Oh I am also looking forward to Jonna Lee's (iamamiwhoami lady) upcoming project as ionnalee! The teaser video thingy has me hyped *.*

Like some of you guys, 'Chained To The Rhythm' is one of my favourite singles of the year too. I'm not usually mad about most Katy album tracks but I hope the impending album will deliver.

This year has been so good already! 2016 was an amazing year for music, let's hope the one lives up to that.

Top 5s so far:
01 Young Thug 'Safe'
02 Future feat. Rihanna 'Selfish'
03 Syd 'Body'
04 Major Lazer feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj 'Run Up'
05 Sampha 'Kora Sings'

01 Sampha 'Process'
02 Future 'HNDRXX'
03 Run the Jewels 'Run the Jewels III'
04 Migos 'Culture'
05 Syd 'Fin'

So many of my favourites released last year, so I'm not really sure what I'll be anticipating most this year. Hoping Kanye sticks to his word and releases 'Turbo Grafx' at some point. New Nicki is NEEDED, really hope she brings it. Will also be hoping for new music from Cassie as always, it's over 10 years since the debut now...gimme that sophomore pls.

Hyped for Lorde, Ellie Goulding and Tove Lo!

Lorde and Tove Lo definitely have albums coming in 2017, not sure when Ellie's is coming though.

Album of the year so far for me, like a lot of people, is The xx's I See You. I was aware of their work previously but it wasn't ever something that particularly appealed to me, however I listened to their current album on the off-chance of liking a couple of songs and I ended up really enjoying it all. 'On Hold', 'Say Something Loving', 'Performance' and 'I Dare You' stand out most, but the album as a whole has such a great atmosphere.

New music from Katy Perry, Goldfrapp and Lorde are highlighting the year and all are showing real promise with their respective albums. It seems the likes of HAIM, Kylie, Paloma Faith, P!nk and Royal Blood will all be releasing new albums this year too and I'm definitely looking forward to what they will have to offer, particularly HAIM and Royal Blood as they're in the infamous second era territory right now, although I feel if they keep close to the sound of their debuts (with a little bit of development here and there, of course) then all should be good.
