MANIFESTO

Renewable Energy policy
Our scientists have toiled and uncovered a revolutionary method of using the surplus jade deposits underneath Arcadia to be burned and utilised as a very efficient form of energy. This would help a considerable amount to reduce the carbon footprint of Arcadia, thus contributing less to global warming and climate change, which the Liberal Democats recognise is a huge threat to not just our beautiful nation but the whole world.

UN Climate Change Deal
We pledge our signature to the UN Climate Chage Deal. As stated above, we recognise global warning and climate change is a real and huge threat. We are commited to our renewable energy policy as a measure to reduce our contribution to the factors that combine to cause the climate change that threatens our beautiful planet.

Transport
Due to mass unrest around the world with privatised transportaton, Liberal Democats are committed to giving power back to the people and this involves a publically run transport system. Our Department of Transport is committed to making sure that public transport actually runs efficiently, so the countless Arcadian citizens who rely on it to get to work, appointments and socialise.

Healthcare system
Our healthcare system is also something we feel it is important to keep public. We believe that all Arcadians should be able to access the treatment they need whatever they need it for, be it persistent headaches, treatment for serious illness, A&E for drunken accidents or mental health help. Privatising Arcadia's healthcare system would only serve to make it harder to citizens to be able to access and afford the help that they need to survive and prosper.

Income Tax rate
The basic rate of tax will be set at 25% for those earning £45,000 or less, with the first £12,000 being a tax free allowance. Although this may seem quite high, as part of our manifesto the Liberal Democats will seek the scrapping of National Insurance, with it being progressively merged into income tax over the next 3 years. The Liberal Democats believe in a fair and transparent tax system, and believe that National Insurance is a "stealth tax". With our system, hard working citizens will know exactly how much money they will earn, and how much they will be taking home.

There will be a higher rate of tax of 35% for all income earned between £45,000 & £250,000, with a 50% upper band for all income earned above this threshold. Those earning £300,000 or more will not be entitled to the £12,000 allowance (with it being progressively eased out for those earning between £250k and £300k.

Corporation tax
This will be set at 24% of profits for the year, however any company for which more than 10% of its expenses are spent on Research & Development into cheaper alternatives to cat food or ways of mining for jade that are "ruddy fantastic" (to use the technical, scientific term), will be eligible for a lower corporation tax rate of 20%.

Sales Tax
The sales tax, which in order to make it much more fun rather than scary, will be known as the Groovy Added Tax (G.A.T). The GAT rate will be set at 15%. All items will be subject to the GAT, with the exception of the following items, which are zero rated -

- Bré cheese.
- Satitary products, including, but not limited to, tampons, razor blades, soap, toilet paper and flannels.
- All music that is purchased in a physical format, ie CDs, vinyl tapes. Streaming subscriptions and music downloads will still be subject to the 15% GAT.
- Battenberg (which was a condition of Brett agreeing to write up the tax section of the manifesto).

Below are the main issues that our party would like to remedy to benefit the citizens of Arcadia:

--------------------------

Economy and infrastructure: In the Liberal Democats, we have a saying “the cow says meow”, because the cattle industry is big in Arcadia. Bré cheese is a staple food, and we plan to increase production of this vital foodstuff to feed Arcadia, while offering fairer pay for hardworking Bré cheese producers in Arcadia who are getting swindled by supermarkets.

Furthermore, the economy relies on jade production, coins made from jade being the currency of our region. More advanced mining techniques would start development, as there is predicted to be 500 million tons of jade under Arcadia. Unlike other prospective parties in power, Liberal Democats pledge not to forget these vital industries, as cabinet member Jade holds her namesake close to her heart.

The key tourist attraction of the Jadakissnia brothel, an Arcadian institution, also requires protection. Each year, it attractions millions of visitors from across the Buzzjack world, but repairs due to excessive use are thought to exceed 200 million jadas. Sir Phillip Grey, leader of the Arcadia Group who operate and own it, needs to put under pressure which Liberal Democats are commited to – he should be made to priortise securing the future of this institution. We propose that the privatised Jadakissnia brothel is re-nationalised, so that it is not manipulated as a capitalist venture. We like all cats in the Liberal Democats, but we do not stand for greedy fatcats who receive many times the pay of average workers.

We additionally recognise the need to increase infrastructure spending. We have a detailed plan of roads and bridges, but also airways and the vehicles which use such pathways. There is a coastal flooding problem in many parts of Arcadia and we propose to build a big beautiful wall, along the coasts that will act as a dam to protect houses along the coast.

The cost of this is estimated at 30 billion jadas, but this will be nothing compared to the amount of money that these fixes would bring from tourism and economy en el future. You have to spend in order to make money, and unlike other parties we don’t have a history of being pro austerity and will invest money in areas of importance.
Fairness and equality: We don’t want anyone in Arcadia to feel excluded or discriminated against. The cat community has long been persecuted by other parties in favour of dogs, but we believe that all pets are beautiful, precious and pure and should be given the same rights. Cat food in Arcadia commonly costs twice as much as dog food, so many people cannot afford cats. This would be subject to efforts by the Liberal Democats to make pet food equally affordable for all. New cat protection laws would come into place with us in power, making it a hate crime to discriminate against cats , such as coughing up furballs in public. This is a natural function, all animals have natural functions they cannot help.

------------
Cat and dog unity: We don't believe anyone or anything should be discriminated against in Arcadia. The cat community has long been persecuted in favour of the dog loving community, but we in the Liberal Democat party believe that cats and dogs should be offered the same protections and rights. We believe that all cute little pets are pure, beautiful and deserve love. Cat food in Arcadia commonly costs twice that of dog food and this means that some cat lovers cannot afford to own cats. We believe that, regardless of the preferences one has, they should be allowed to own the pet that they want. Everyone deserves the love that comes from a furry friend. Therefore, our companions would be afforded greater protection if we are in power. It will be a hate crime to discriminate against natural animal functions such as cats coughing up furballs in public or dogs moulting their fur. The joy that our furry companions bring to the world outbalances these minor inconveniences and people should be aware of this.

---------------------
Gender equality:. We believe this facet of equality needs it’s own sub-section of the manifesto. Sexual objectification has gone on long enough, so we want to oppose fines for the abhorrent act of cat calling – around £50 for a first offence. We don’t believe that women should be scrutinised by the male gaze when they are merely walking down the street to work or to the corner shop, and our cabinet is set on changing things. We are also committed to removing Page 3 from newspapers, women do not need to be objectified to be noticed. Sexist music will be strongly discouraged, with a focus on promoting rappers to using their platform to be “woke”, speaking out for Black Lives Matter for example instead of how tight their gurlz booty be. We will also overhaul PHSE education, teaching children from a young age that women can open doors and lift heavy things if they want to – they are not the weaker sex. This would ingrain from a young age that people should treat the genders equally. If something is started early enough, it will have an impact on how citizens behave in general later in life.

This move towards gender equality would also involve advocating equal pay for everyone. It is not at all fair that males receive more pay than females for equal roles, as is common not just in Arcadia but around the world. Our government would be dedicated to eradicating the wage gap, making sure that hard working women get the pay that they deserve for the jobs that they do to keep Arcadia's economy and society afloat. This would tie into representing males and females equally in work, to ensure equal opportunities for all. For example, our cabinet promises to proportionately represent genders in position of power.

Not content with gains for feminism, Liberal Democats would work to erase negative stereotypes towards men. Tying in with the health area of our manifesto, public awareness campaigns and overhauled PHSE education would teach students that males don't have to be macho and have a stiff upper lip. Men can act as they want, they can show they feelings and should not be afraid to seek help with their emotions or problems, it doesn't make them "weak". With our help, we can stop both men and women feeling they have to act a certain way, suppressing behaviours that are part of them, to appease society and how they think one should act.

--------------------------

Music: The Liberal Democats are dedicated to livening up the musical landscape. We don't want anymore Spotify fodder clogging up the charts. We're sick of future bass, tired of tropical house. We hope to give pop its power back, harking back to the mid 00s when the likes of Kelly Clarkson ruled with her powerful vocals and huge choruses, we want funky house to burst back into prominence, in an attempt to make dance more idiosyncratic and intriguing. Our cabinet is home a wide range of music tastes, and the department of culture would make sure that their priority was catering for all tastes on radio, TV and other media, so citizens can be safe to turn on the radio without an assault of Ed Sheeran, Drake and Chainsmokers at any given time. This would prevent incidents such as the Arcadia riots of 2016, in which thousands across various cities protested against Ariana Grande missing the top 10 with her iconic pop banger Into You, as droves as citizens were brainwashed by Drake and thus didn't buy or stream it. Our cabinet would be dedicated to making radio stations and Spotify work closely with our Department Of Culture to ensure that radios and promoted Spotify playlists cater for a wider range of tastes, giving new artists and styles a chance in the charts.

For example, instead of Drake's muted and dull afrobeats as heard on One Dance, we propose that such influences should instead take from examples such as Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong, a certified jam that many a cabinet member would agree gets anyone bopping. We also hope to push PC Music influences into the mainstream. This hyper sounding dance influenced style has heightened pop sensibilities and would fit very well into the music of popular pop artists such as Katy Perry. We would start by assigning PC Music a dedicated radio show to move it into public consciousness, as well working with Spotify to promote such songs, so they can enter the popular music discourse properly. Rock would also be of importance to our cabinet, with the hopes of making the charts diverse to include more pop-punk and rock, giving acts such as Paramore and The Summer Set a bigger chance at chart success. All of this would not happen overnight, but with a concentrated effort aimed at commercial music vessels, we hope to promote a wider range of music so people are fed a better diet than that of Ed Sheeran and Drake.

Below is a playlist, which serves to demonstrate the breadth of music taste that the Liberal Democats hope to spread:

------------
Health: Of high importance to the Liberal Democats is to tighten up and improve mental health care in Arcadia. An unusually high percentage of Arcadia suffer from depression, anxiety and similar mental health issues, but it still seems to be that there is a stigma and citizens aren't always comfortable seeking the help that they need. The Liberal Democats are committed to giving mental health issues the same due care and attention that has always been shown to more visible physical afflictions. One may not be able to see mental illness, but its effects are clear on those who suffer and have been well documented in the public domain. Lady Katya Zamolochikova of the royal family won millions of fans when she overcame crippling anxiety to appear on Rupaul's Drag Race and become a fan favourite. She has since tirelessly campaigned to raise awareness for invisible mental illnesses, so that they have permeated Arcadian social discourse and are of importance to our government. Liberal Democats propose that GPs receive additional training to support their patients who suffer from mental illnesses in the best possible way, and that GP surgeries are assigned mental health workers who can help deal with patients efficiently when GPs have assessed and referred them to the right services. This would be helped by keeping the health service public, so anyone with either physical or mental illnesses can easily access any service they need to recover.

This does not mean that we are forgetting physical afflictions. Top scientists in Arcadia would be offered grants and subsidiaries that would help them to break through in important areas such as obesity and cancer, hoping to fight such epidemics and ailments. Our very own Baroness Kathy is a well known campaigner for cancer awareness, having survived breast cancer herself, and it is an important issue for us to combat the harrowing effects of such an invasive illness. We want to make as many gains as possible in the scientific fields that would hopefully help to move towards a cure or better treatments.
-----------------

Finally, when the Democats are elected, the day of their ascension to power will be declared a well deserved and earned national public holiday, which will celebrate not only the Democats but the hard work and unity of all Arcadian citizens.
