MICHELLE WILLIAMS

Her Oscar nominations have been for:
Best Supporting Actress (2006) - Brokeback Mountain (as Alma Beers Del Mar)
Best Leading Actress (2011) - Blue Valentine (as Cindy)
Best Leading Actress (2012) - My Week With Marilyn (as Marilyn Monroe)
Best Supporting Actress (2017) - Manchester by the Sea (as Randi Chandler)

How would you rank these performances? Do you think she deserved to win in any of these years? Do you think she deserved nominations for any other performances?

Here are some other awards nominations she has received:
GOLDEN GLOBES
Brokeback Mountain (Best Supporting Actress)
Blue Valentine (Best Leading Actress - Drama)
My Week with Marilyn (Best Leading Actress - Comedy/Musical)
Manchester by the Sea (Best Supporting Actress)

Michelle is someone i've never actively sought to watch but anytime she's popped up I've been wowed by her.

Only seen Manchester by the Sea of the nominated movies and while i don't think it was a winning performance she supported Casey brilliantly and really helped tell
the story of the movie and support it..

I kind of agree with Grant that I never usually watch films for her but I'm always impressed with her work as she's always consistently great. She's kinda overshadowed by someone else in all the films her nominations have been for though for me (BM - Heath Ledger & Jake Gyllenhaal, BV - Ryan Gosling, MWWM - Kenneth Branagh, MBTS - Casey Affleck). It's also hard to compare minor roles to lead roles but here's how I think I'd rank her performances:

1 My Week with Marilyn
2 Manchester by the Sea
3 Blue Valentine
4 Brokeback Mountain

Even though she had a teeny role in MBTS, I thought she really shined in what little screen time she had so major props to her for that, if Viola hadn't committed category fraud then she'd definitely be close to getting that elusive Oscar for me although I loved Naomie Harris in Moonlight too. I'm sure she'll get an Oscar sooner rather than later, she does feel rather overdue now.
