How would you define them?

I suppose they could be defined as : artists who are charting more on past success, either by themselves or part of a group, than on the strength of their current material. Generally speaking they rely heavily on paid-for sales, rather than streaming.

Yes I would describe them in the same way. They usually get a larger portion of their success in first week sales.

Examples are: Britney, GaGa, Madonna, Katy Perry and Little Mix.

Pop brat Bibber is also a fanbase act but currently has a laaarrrge sheeple fanbase.

Most acts appear to have fanbases, only difference is the size. (actually basically what liam said)

And? All acts have a fanbase.

Now, acts that have a certain kind of fan may do better but what is your point? This happens across all media, people base a lot on familiarity. Would you say the same for a franchise film? Thing is, any poor quality work damages the brand a little bit more so that's not what they tend to put out, the most they can normally be accused of... objectively mind you, this is a very subjective topic... is lack of innovation because they've proved what works well works again.

Bo, Iz, you are wrong.

Fanbase acts are those whose quality went down and are not listened to by the general public who are NOT a fanvase but casual listeners. Fan base acts rely on their hardcore fans which are small groups.

It's not that the quality goes down it's that the fickle gp move onto the next flavour of the month rolleyes.gif

There's nothing wrong with having a fan base. All the artists I stan spend about 3 weeks max on the albums chart lol but all were very successful in the past. If the music's still good and you've been a fan for a long time why would you stop because the gp aren't interested anymore?

But they often move on BECAUSE of the decline in quality.

Not necessarily. They move on because when they've been out for so long radio stops playing them cause they're considered too old rolleyes.gif It's impossible for artists like Britney to get a hit these days no matter how good the music is. Glory is considered one of Britney's best albums but it only spent 3 weeks on the charts.

No. It most certainly is NOT considered by any measure one of her best.

ITZ was her last and greatest A album. MP was her last good album.

Post breakdown she never recovered and became a pop puppet unable to sing or dance. She is now a joke. That is why she needs her fanbase.

But she is.

Literally that aaawful HIAM came on in the gym and people LAUGHED - that was back when she was still slightly culturally relevant of course. The person I was with said 'god she's just goven up' as her cheesy'haayzaaay' bit came on - specifically TO please her fambase and no one else. She is now a pop robot and that is why she is a fanbase act - she is based on past GLORIES. Hence the album name and the official ADMISSION 'it's for the fans'.

It is though, it got heaps of praise. Just because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean it's automatically shit.

"unable to dance" have you seen any of her recent videos from Vegas etc?

No, it is ON topic as she is LITERALLY the definition of a fanbase act.

Why don't you grow up and accept it.

It wasn't a 'comeback' - just reinforcing that she is a joke act now. You know it, I know it, and that is why she is a fanbase act. Look at Madonna - for 40? years she was top of her game BECAUSE she transcended her fanbase with excellent styles, muwic and ambition.
