The single Judas did quite well, it didn't really flop iirc (considering the video took ages to come out so denying it more youtube views/music channel promo).

Btw Judas is my favourite of Lady Gaga's single, I think it is quite epic and the chorus is brilliant especially the 'whoa oh oh oh oh oh' bit!

Avicii's Stories era

have to agree to an extent, I will still never understand why he tried to push For A Better Day just before the album release when he had Broken Arrows waiting, and by the time he made that one a single everyone had moved on.

Interesting idea! I've put the UK peaks that these might achieve in an alternate universe of the below singles being released:

Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway - #46

1: I Hate Myself For Losing You - #37
2: Where Is Your Heart - DNC
3: You Found Me - DNC
4: Walk Away - DNC

Steps - Step One - #60

1: Experienced - #53
2: Too Weak To Resist - #44
3: Stay With Me - #31 (after a heavy Smash Hits and SM:TV push)
4: 5,6,7,8 (fart out the novelty song at the end of the campaign in an attempt to save it, before realising that novelty doesn't sell albums) - #14 for Xmas '98 but can't save the album

James Blunt - Back To Bedlam - #39

1: So Long Jimmy - DNC
2: Billy - #67 (after heavy rotation on the B4 channel)
3: Cry - DNC
4: High - #58

Robbie Williams - Life Thru A Lens - #11

1: Old Before I Die - #2
2: Lazy Days - #8
3: South Of The Border - #14
4: Ego a Go Go - #19 (Robbie is then dropped and never heard from again)

The Corrs - Talk On Corners - #7

1: Only When I Sleep - #58
2: I Never Loved You Anyway - #43
3: What Can I Do - #53
4: Love Gives Love Takes - #60 (Dreams/Royal Albert Hall gig don't happen, disaster of a single chosen)

Doing this makes me realise how much one misstep of a single choice can ruin an artist's whole career.

Makes you wonder what would have happened to some artists' careers if they'd chosen the RIGHT singles...Would Thunderbugs have lived up to their billing as the next big thing if they'd put out their cover of Angel In The Morning second and beaten Shaggy to it by two years? Would Duffy have been as big as Adele if she'd stuck with Bernard Butler, avoided the Diet Coke advert and never released Well, Well, Well? Would Delta's Mistaken Identity have reached higher than floppy #25 if she'd led with the title track or Almost Here instead of Out Of The Blue?

I think Only When I Sleep would've been a hit tbh.
