I was and still am fuming at this, my entire chart archive is a STATE mellow.gif Gonna be all about Imgur now but it's such a shame that I've got YEARS of photos uploaded that I can't use now. A ridiculous decision from them and I hope it backfires.

My chart archive is FILLED with 'Third party hosting' (at least that reminds me to get my chart going again magic.gif) signs drama.gif These photo companies have always been greedy anyway, the same happened with imageshack.

I saw the email as soon as I woke up on Friday and I was so annoyed! laugh.gif $400 a year to do what other image sites offer for free...nah. The fact they didn't give a grace period either is disappointing.

I used to use tinypic until I switched to Imgur a good few years ago, I hope that doesn't go the same way as this and Imageshack any time soon. sad.gif

I'm glad they seem to be receiving lots of backlash. Absolutely ridiculous decision who is going to pay $400 per year for a service they had for free?

The internet will now be messy and that upsets me greatly. I hate the thought that someone may randomly struggle across a personal chart of mine from about 2005 and they may leave with an impression of tardiness.

I stopped using Photobucket quite a while ago now because I found it too slow, I've been using Postimage but it's impossible to log into your account rolleyes.gif

EDIT: Actually, it's working now! laugh.gif but I've only got 2 images on there bc I hardly ever use them tongue.gif

I've never used Photobucket so I'm not ~personally affected~ but I weep for years and years of images hosted on internet forums (Joseph's cover sleeves being the most obvious immediate impact here, but it will have ruined all sorts of threads on loads of other forums too). I did use ImageShack in the past but have always used Imgur for the past few years.

Sadly I think this is a bit inevitable for any free image hosting site, hosting third party images is not cheap so I understand why they did this, although the audacity of just suddenly demanding a $400 ransom with no warning was a shitty way to go about it. I pray Imgur can stay the way it is but it will probably have the same fate one day </3

I can't say I've ever used Photobucket, I've always used TinyPic which has worked fine! Though recently the cache code has been linked to a video which has been giving me 'error' messages so I can't upload it pirate.gif

Imgur's alright, but I can't find a resize option on there?

You're not looking hard enough magic.gif (if you have an account then you can hover over any image on your profile and click the pencil icon which allows you to resize it / do some other editing jiggerpokery. You can also edit an image right after uploading it whether or not you have an account in a dropdown menu on the top right of the image ~)

I personally am gutted as I use Photobucket for my chart images and they want you to pay Ł400 for the same service you could get for free f*** RIGHT OFF.

I used to use photobucket and then they upgraded it & it would change the shades on colours on my uploads?! So I changed to imageshack.

When they started charging, I was a little put out but I now pay $3.99 a month because I like the layout, the speed and ease.
Plus, I don't get ads and I'm using the service so I don't mind paying for it really.

Fair dos, I didn't notice that (but I'm still Team TinyPic). Although the coding doesn't seem to have a .jpg or .gif to post on here?
