This could be songs you'd put off listening to, songs that you didn't quite get but now love etc. etc.

This one for me. Ridiculously good, I don't know what possessed me not to take proper notice of it before?!

tbh

When I first heard it I completely wrote it off and I was not interested for an absolute AGE. Then it starts gaining momentum in the US and appears on the radio. I somehow liked it more after that.

Adele - Don't You Remember. I can remember loving the whole album except this one song and I'd ALWAYS skip it as soon as I heard the guitar intro but about two years ago I just fell in love with it and it's been a treat hearing it live twice wub.gif

A few songs I only started properly liking after picking up the NOW compilation they were on. For example Let It Go by Idina Menzel and Alarm by Anne-Marie.

It's not like I hadn't heard them around both a million times so it's strange!

Walking On Cars - Speeding Cars. It was about 6 months after it charted officially for me to really notice it, and now I love it, but it was WAY too old for my chart by then sad.gif

Especially in BJSC. I mean HOW did I not even give Phoebe Ryan - Mine, Against the Current - Outsiders or PVRIS - St. Patrick a commiseration!? laugh.gif

Unpopular opinion but here goes!! Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" - I used to despise it when it first debuted and stayed in the top ten for aaaaages but now I think it's really rather gorgeous. I think being such a fan of "I'm Not The Only One" made me appreciate his other ballads more. MOTM is still completely dreadful though...

I just got into Kiesza's Dearly Beloved...about 6 months down the line.

Often it's when artists or bands make a big change in sound...it can take a while for it to grow on me.

Speaking of BJSC, there are songs like CoCo and the Butterfields - Battlegrounds that only got a 7 and would EASILY be my 15/18 had the contest been held now.

Or pretty much anything from the album it came from, I really love it now but dismissed it all as pretty boring at the time.

I wish I would have liked the trance songs in the early 00s more at the time. I preferred pop at the time. I did like Fragma - You Are Alive (probably because I thought the singer was Geri Halliwell ohmy.gif and also the nice video for it ) and Melanie C - I Turn to You (Hex Hector Remix) but those were the only two I liked from the genre at the time they were out.

I did like some other dance though in the early 00s - Mad'house - Like A Prayer I liked because I knew the song already and I loved Barcelona by DKay ft Stamina MC. I liked the DB Boulevard and Moony songs too.

Sia - Chandelier. Too busy moaning about how terrible music is "these days" (as in three years ago) and completely missed this masterpiece. Suddenly discovered it in 2016 and spent most of the year replaying it.

I remember hating this so much when it first came out and now I listen to it and think it is one of the best pieces of pop released in the 00's, I have no clue why I had any sort of vendetta at all. To be fair, I was 11 in 2007 when it hit #1 so maybe I was at that stage where I just didn't think it was cool enough when it came out or something. God only knows, cannot really be rationalised.

I also remember despising this when it came out (and Katy B in general) and now I adore it and Katy B is forever one of my favs wub.gif

Ooooo that's a good one, I remember the video irritating me at first for some reason but now I quite enjoy the song and video! wub.gif
