Or vinyl/cassette/whatever format! Album and single. Inspired by the "How Big Is Your" (kink.gif) thread.

I actually can't remember what mine was, I've been getting them since I was like 2 literally lol but the first ones that I remember getting were Xtina's Stripped and Beyoncé's Crazy In Love.

Has this ended up on your dead shelf yet? kink.gif

I remember the first two CDS I bought with my own money very clearly. HMV had two for a tenner so I got Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Aslyum and Lily Allen's "it's not you it's me". In terms of vinyl I got Adele 19/21/25 which started off my collection but the first one I bought for myself was Ellie Goulding - Lights heart.gif

My first CD I bought was definitely a NOW CD. The first album I bought was either Scissor Sisters Ta-Dah, if I bought it, or if that was a gift, then Pink's I'm Not Dead and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill at the same time (back when HMV did the 2 for 1 offer).

Cassette album: Spice Girls - Spice [1997]
Cassette single: Gina G - Fresh [1997]

CD album: Spice Girls - Spiceworld [1997]
CD single: Spice Girls - Stop [1998]

Vinyl single: Girls Aloud - Love Machine (7" Picture Disc) [2004]
Vinyl album: Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster (12" Picture Disc) [2010]

I remember being a bit disappointed that I didn't receive 'Spice' on Cassette as a Christmas '96 present, so I bought it in the new year with Xmas money! I wasn't into music before the Spice Girls came along, when I was 8 years old.
I didn't buy the 'Spiceworld' CD, but I know it was the first CD I ever owned - a Christmas '97 present, alongside my first CD player. wub.gif I can't recall the first CD album I bought myself.

Not 100% certain about the CD/Cassette singles but I think it was those! What a cool first single re: Gina G! x

Love Machine was definitely my first vinyl... I didn't even have a player and I remember thinking at the time that it was an odd/niche release, but I was obsessed with them so I bought it anyway! I got a record player not long after.
I continued buying vinyl singles released by my fave artists, but for a number of years I didn't see the point of buying an album on vinyl. I thought The Fame Monster picture disc looked cool, so ended up buying it on eBay. I own 24 albums on vinyl now!

erm, tbh I'm pretty sure the very first cassette (smile.gif) I ever bought with my own pocket money was an old Estonian comedy rap thing lmao. I've no idea where it is and frankly, I'm not too bothered. x I was only allowed to buy one cassette that day and my family were trying to persuade me to actually buy something, err, better. They had this other cassette in mind that they wanted me to get and even the guy selling the music was trying to convince me not to buy this and get the other one lmao. But I was a stubborn kid who wanted this mellow.gif

Then I grew and my music taste improved.
