Looking forward to this - might watch last season again beforehand! Wish they would get rid of at least one of the groups!

laugh.gif TWD is gonna be around for years to come.

Reviews for 'Mercy' (8x01) are in and a lot of them are saying it's a return to form so that's very promising biggrin.gif

Let's hope so - I just don't like the fact that no one on here is talking about it at all!

I'm not particularly hyped for this, unfortunately. sad.gif Season 7 really tested my patience in terms of overall enjoyment.

~ Spoilers to follow for those who haven't seen Season 7 ~

Obviously a series about zombies isn't believable in itself, but a lot of other elements just aren't ringing true. The trash people are such a bizarre addition (an odd way of talking/emotionless/all dress the same - it's not really been THAT long since the apocalypse began that such a bizarre group of people would come into existence laugh.gif ). Also, Rick's group putting so much trust into them didn't make any sense - they gave no real indication that they could be trusted, no bonds were formed.

The tiger is a very strange plot device - how convenient that this magical tiger knew exactly who the "bad guys" were in the season finale. kink.gif

I find Negan to be extremely tiresome too. Endless monologues... he became more annoying than terrifying. He doesn't strike me as someone who'd be able to hold so much power over people, so it's difficult to take him seriously as the main antagonist.

I'll give Season 8 Episode 1 a go... hopefully it's good and an improvement in quality. If it leaves me feeling more annoyed than entertained though, I might make the decision to dip out from watching.

Didn't find much to get excited about in the first episode. Seemed wildly incoherent in its 'plan' and overly convenient in many places. Wasn't hyped and still came away disappointed.

Loved the owl though

I disagree. I really enjoyed it, in an episode 6 after a couple of filler episodes sort of way. I understand it not being coherent or exciting enough as a lead episode, but I'm intrigued by where it all is atm. I assume they're actually in trouble and we're just seeing flashbacks, as such atm. The whole future thing is just a vision I assume.

I really enjoyed the premiere last night! I think I can say so without any spoilers.

I was on the edge of my seat, with sweaty palms and anxiety - which oddly enough, is enjoyable, haha!

It's nice to finally see the story moving forward (I'm a comic book reader) as it felt a little drawn out last season. The episode put everything in place quickly and while I'm sure there will be some playing around with it, it feels like we're moving at least.

Robert Kirkman also said there will be a Fear the Walking Dead/The Walking Dead crossover next year.

Season 7 was absolutely awful bar for a few moments. Enjoyed this episode a lot more, I think some of the editing was a little off-hand.

Will see if the consistency remains though throughout the season...

Hope so!! I cannot stand him and I really have trust issues with him laugh.gif Season 7 was indeed the worst season to date. But it doesn't bother me so much, every TV series has a dud or two! Especially ones that run for 8 seasons +

Yeh that's because he has only really come to be trusted by the group since Alexandria and even then there was a period when he rebelled against Rick!

Have to say I had to take a check at who Morales was at the end of that episode!

Overall a good episode but too many gun fights and rousing speeches not enough talking interaction - and not even a glimpse of Negan & Father Gabriel!!

Yeah I agree it was a strange one. It built tension quite well but I was left thinking "get on with it" a lot, the firefights/ taking the building etc could've been done in half the episode and I'm not sure why so much screen time at the beginning and end of the episode (probably 2 or 3 minutes in total) was spent on pointless close ups of characters. laugh.gif
I remembered Morales though! Was really interesting to see him back although how has he ended up as a saviour in DC when last we heard he was heading from Atlanta to Alabama with his family? Wasn't really necessary to make it a "big revelation" and screen cuts to black moment either, we could've done with a bit more explanation in this episode but hopefully next week we'll see a bit more.

For me that was possibly the worst episode of the show yet. The show has become terrible over the last few seasons and everytime I watch it I feel like my IQ is dropping severely. It's become a procession of once interesting characters doing utterly stupid or implausible things. This weeks episode felt more like the A-Team than anything else except none of the characters are as strongly defined and consistent in their behaviour or interactions. Where it was once an interesting, character driven study of the lengths people would go to in order to survive in a world gone tits up it's now become a procession on dumb set pieces and forced confrontations to try and hide the fact that it has nothing to say anymore. Look at Morgan - always the Yin to Rick's Yang, but this week for no apparent reason his OP plot armour kicks in and years of careful character development is thrown out and he's suddlenly a f***ing T-1000 ninja killing machine. Bugs Bunny cartoons have more considered characters than this.
The plot is all over the place and it feels like the writers have reacted to criticism that last season was too slow and dialogue driven by making a 2 hour gunfight whose cohesion has more holes in it than a sieve.
Only a year ago I never thought I'd say Fear The Walking Dead was the better show but it's streets ahead right now and even that is quite shaky in places.
