A bit of a shock next, I initially thought this would do much better! Geography is out, stereotypically the subject where you COLOUR THINGS IN ad infinitum, but really about the world around us, sustaining it for future generations and observing how it has formed over time. No one has really mentioned the trips that came with the subject which might have caused a few voters to maybe sway because they were always FUN but alas we say good by and thus immediately crown History as Buzzjack's favourite Humanities subject. Iz rejoice ~

Wait, what? ICT MUST PAY. Geography was so fun, it's top of the subjects I wish I'd taken for A-Level now.

Still, History survived happy.gif

Aw I really liked both of the Humanities subjects here.

Gone for Science again, although was tempted to switch after remembering the existence of the Electromagnetic Spectrum song x

Can we please just get rid of ICT? I've voted for it all along and no one has decent enough ICT lessons to justify the length of time it has remained here.

b-but... Medieval medicine and how they switched from not treating illnesses because it went against God's will to discovering the ancient texts of Hippocrates and Galen and starting taking tips from the more advanced Islamic doctors (although not without resistance, there's a famous story from the Crusades where a knight was being treated well by a Syrian but a crusader doctor took over, amputated the knight's leg and caused him to die). Or post-Black Death medicine where the risk of the plague breaking out every year was so great that doctors wore pointed metal face masks. Or 19th-century medicine and the discovery of the vaccine (in this case, to combat the deadly disease of smallpox) by Edward Jenner using cowpox and how smallpox was subsequently eradicated. Jenner might have saved more lives than any other human in history.

Similarly, for crime and punishment there's a huge load in the development of law, how common law and various trials by ordeal turned into proper legal systems. I don't know as much about that but any subject in history has its interesting stories and facts to get excited by, it's all one big story.

Ahhh the medicine throwback for GCSE! Galen was more surgical though wasn't he? Him and Versailles (I can't spell!) looking at the anatomy of pigs if I remember correctly.

Why is ICT still in lol

Also I'm SO happy that languages have made it so far, Buzzjack might go against the UK narrative of the slow death of modern language learning. <3 <3

I did a lot of Galen in the Classics half of my degree, he was very surgical, yes, as well as great for putting forward theories, even though things like humours later got disproved. He was quite the no-nonsense character who believed very strongly he was absolutely right I found from reading his works.

IT now but history dangerously close. IT is just really pointless, we learned stupid stuff that you could just pick up yourself but wasted hours upon hours on it drama.gif Plus it's the sort of thing that kind of goes out of date so stuff we've done now we hardly need to or can use now.
