Dexton's Top 20 (15/08/2017) (Week #14)
The EDM king has returned! Avicii, the best thing to have come out of Sweden besides IKEA, has returned from hiatus with a brilliant new EP. In an attempt to not clog up my chart with his entire EP, I've decided that a "3-per-artist" rule will come into play from this week onwards. Up until now a "rule" like this hasn't really been necessary, with only The Killers managing to have more than one appearance at a time. Don't worry, Up until now only The Killers have had more than one song in my chart at the same time, but neither has there been any big releases that have blown me away, but all that changes this week. Debuting at #1 this week is Avicii's Without You featuring Sandro Cavazza. The official studio version of a song I have loved ever since it was first played live and has not disappointed (although another 30 seconds to a minute of it would be brilliant). I really hope this does well commercially as it's 1000x better than his 'Stories' era and even better than most of his other stuff in my opinion. Coming in at #2 and #3 are also both Avicii EP tracks, Lonely Together featuring Rita Ora and What Would I Change It To featuring AlunaGeorge. Dua Lipa drops two positions to #4 and Camila Cabello also takes a tumble (5-1). Climbs this week come from Duke Dumont & Gorgon City (13-6), The Script (11-7), and RAY BLK (20-17). All three are growing on me significantly and, despite the majority of Buzzjack's apparent hatred for The Script, I'm really looking forward to their upcoming album. Speaking of upcoming albums, The Killers' Wonderful Wonderful is also on the horizon. With all the madness at the top of my chart, we have One Republic & Seeb (3-11), Enrique Iglesias (4-12), Coldplay & Big Sean (5-13), and The Killers (8-18) all taking big drops this week but Jax Jones (9-9) and Yungen (14-14) manage to hold on tightly to last weeks positions. With Sigala & Ella Eyre's Came Here For Love falling out of the Top 20 this week, Imagine Dragons' Thunder becomes the longest running song at a total of 10 weeks. Will it make it to 11 weeks? ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ 01 00 Avicii - Without You (feat. Sandro Cavazza) [1] 02 00 Avicii - Lonely Together (feat. Rita Ora) [2] 03 00 Avicii - What Would I Change It To (feat. Hey Dexton!
You've charted my three favourite Avicii songs from the EP not necessarily in the same order, as I'd probably put the AlunaGeorge one above the Rita Ora one, but yeah those are definitely the best three. Hopefully 'Without You' can be a reasonable sized hit. It's good to have him back! Pleasing also to see The Script return to the Top 10 and repeak (they get far too much hate and it's a great song) and to see P!nk enter, I've always been a massive fan so it's fantastic to see her get such an instant hit, so unexpected Great chart! |

The whole EP is just so amazing, I'm so glad he's back with amazing stuff after his dissapointing last album Nice climb for Real Life, so glad it actually made the top 40 last week Also like New Rules (ofc ), All Stars, Instruction and What About Us Great Chart! Hey Bridge! I'm really loving the EP, although I did enjoy Stories for a little while too. Some of the songs were clearly better than the rest (Waiting for Love, Touch Me) but then there was also other... not great... songs (Ten More Days, Somewhere in Stockholm). I enjoyed Pure Grinding too which I find even the biggest Avicii lovers to despise AVĪCI is much much better overall though Real Life deserves lots of success What About Us is Pinks best "slow-ish song" since Sober I think, I never really got into Try. Thanks for commenting! Avicii slaying!!! So deserved, but where are the other 3 tracks at tho x also happy New Rules is the non-Avicii #1 ...and a new entry for P!nk is nice to see fab chart! Hey mdh! I didn't want to have 6/20 songs on my chart by Avicii Otherwise he'd certainly be taking up the entire Top 6 New Rules has already gone #1 for me but if not for Avicii, Dua would definately be #1 for a few more weeks What About Us Thanks for commenting! Hey Dexton! You've charted my three favourite Avicii songs from the EP not necessarily in the same order, as I'd probably put the AlunaGeorge one above the Rita Ora one, but yeah those are definitely the best three. Hey Mango! I originally did have AlunaGeorge above Rita, but Lonely Together grew on me even more over the weekend and so it charted higher It's very close between them though. Without You 100% deserves to take off, it's doing decently in iTunes and is climbing slowly in Spotify so hopefully it'll go even further in the coming weeks Glad to hear your liking Rain too I agree they get more than enough hate and it's really not much like Shape of You unlike I've seen a few people claim. The same argument was made about One Republic's No Vacancy and in comparison Rain is nothing like either of them (I love all three though, so maybe I'm bias) Thanks for commenting! |
