Will & Kate are having a third royal baby, following a boy George (4) and a girl Charlotte (2) so it could go either way this time. ohmy.gif The child will be fifth in line to the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

I think it'll be a boy this time but it really is 50/50.

Funnily enough, no. From a evolutionary point of view, the ratio is tilted so that marginally more boys end up being born than girls. There is an evolutionary reason why this happens in homo sapiens - as men are more likely to remove themselves from the gene pool before reaching reproductive age, due to war, engaging in more risky behavior, and working more dangerous jobs than women, through natural selection more boys end up being born than girls in order to correct for that, in order to get as close to a 50/50 balance as possible.

Wikipedia says for every 100 girls there are 101 boys so it is slightly more likely for it to be a boy.

Well the child is 100% going to be assigned as a male or female at birth regardless of if he/she grows up and identifies as other (which itself would be incredibly unlikely).

Unlikely. Primogeniture will see to that. x

I mean yeah it's kind of interesting but not interesting enough for the press to go rabid about it as per usual, I mean the royals are interesting from a historical point of view and the way they're tied (only symbolically of course) into our lawmaking but it can get a bit much (seriously, can the Express SURVIVE a week without mentioning Diana?). They're still just people. laugh.gif

In the Philippines, more girls are born than boys and no-one knows why.

Due to a change in the rules, families can no longer claim benefits for more than two children. Somehow I suspect that rule won't be applied to this particular family of benefit recipients.

I'm pretty sure I'd be able to do what I always do no matter who is ruling. And anyway I am prepared to leave society if that isn't the case laugh.gif
