Chart Analysis

Avicii spends another week at #1 with 'Without You' to no-one's surprise, now a third of the way to matching the current record of 12 weeks, though it's not clear yet whether it will contend for the record. With other Avicii songs hot on its heels, he could easily kick himself off #1. 'Lonely Together' is the closest challenger now, as it overtakes 'Friend Of Mine' on week four to climb to #2. 'Friend' drops to #3. Vitalic (despite DNQing in BJSC unfortunately) remains at #4 with 'Tu Conmigo' to claim highest non-Avicii song for a second week. DJ Licious returns to the top 5 with 'I Hear You Calling' up to #5.

The Avicii hype is slowly dying down as expected, despite still claiming the top 3 to himself he drops to #8 with 'So Much Better', as well as losing two songs from the top 10; 'You Be Love' and 'What Would I Change It To' down to #12 and #13 respectively. This allows Calvin Harris to climb back to #6 with 'Feels', and Duke City's 'Real Life' re-enters the top 10 at #10. Jax Jones is a non-mover at #9 with 'Instruction'. The sole new entry to the top 10 comes from Sofi Tukker with 'F*ck They'. It climbs nine places to #7, following a rapid ascent up the chart ever since it entered at #100 a few weeks ago. It is their second chart hit following 'Awoo' which peaked at #39 earlier this year.

Just outside the top 10 are CamelPhat & Elderbrook with 'Cola', climbing from #30 to #11 this week so is a definite future top 5 contender. Other significant climbers this week come from Katy Perry whose 'Swish Swish' is up to #26 following its commercial push as a single, Camila Cabello is also up to #30 with 'Havana'.

Three new songs enter the top 40, all of which are climbers from the lower section of the chart. The highest of these is 'Closer Than Close' by Freejak & Safety First feat. BB Diamond at #27, a cover version of the 90s hit by Rosie Gaines. It is the third top 40 hit for BB Diamond following 'Want You' with EDX (#6) and 'Gone Missing' with Shift K3Y (#40). For both credited producers it is their first hit.

Felon enters the top 40 at #32 with his first chart hit 'Hide & Seek (VIP Edit)', which samples Imogen Heap's song of the same name - though it only uses the famous 'Whatcha Say' section of the song. Finally at #39 is a new entry for Stefflon Don with 'Hurtin Me'. It is her fourth hit single following 'Fashion Killa' with Mason (#24), 'Beast' with Toddla T (#36) and of course the #1 single 'Instruction' with Jax Jones. It is however her first hit as a leading artist, it also features French Montana who has had three previous hits; 'Pop That' (#11), 'Feelin Myself' with will.i.am (#16) and 'Unforgettable' (#20) which itself drops to #35 this week.
