FAMILY FORTUNES

*Participate in Lounge quizzes

Morning Lounge-dwellers! We are back with another round of Family Fortunes, this time as part of #Danbbo #Dancemod week. As ever, the aim of the game is to choose the answer submitted you think will be ***MOST*** popular across the board (so please, no-one get this confused for Pointless this time wink.gif). Once you think you have selected 10 worthwhile answers, PM them to myself (Dobbo) & await your fate.

The 10 questions are as follows. I am asking you to name:

1. Something you catch
2. The best colour on a car
3. A song that always gets the dancefloor going
4. One thing you just can't live without
5. A good horror movie
6. One celebrity you'd love to have a photo with
7. An animal not generally kept as a pet that would be cool to have as one
8. A country most people would want to visit at least once in their lifetime
9. Something the world needs less of
10. The question in this round of Family Fortunes you'd least expect to have a landslide answer

The deadline is now set for Monday (today) at 23:59 BST with results to follow on the Tuesday evening. I may allow a time extension up to the point of posting results (which will be at my discretion) but don't gamble on such tongue.gif All the very best to competing participants.

Finally, don't forget to check out the other Lounge Quiz taking place this week: danG's Never Mind The Buzzjacks cheer.gif

I love these questions! Can't see any obvious reasons to Google much which definitely improves the experience of these games imo *.*

also answered- a few questions I'm kinda unsure about in terms of how I might do, esp. the animal and the dancefloor questions. My "excuse" if you will, for the dancefloor question is that I've never gone clubbing (there are reasons lol, it's not simply that I don't want to, although I probably don't x) and am not properly in touch anymore with what's popular currently.

I'm guessing there's no screening process before these quizzes go up? Some of these questions are kinda....vague.

Or maybe some people just enjoy a round where you don't need to google anything and the unpredictability when the questions are so open.

I've already entered and this is one of my favourite sets of questions we've ever had on here, nice one Dobbo tongue.gif

I know some of you will probably say "it's fun to have answers that are less obvious", but some of these genuinely don't really work as Family Fortunes style questions for me? There's some great ones in there for sure, but I'd suggest maybe tailoring a couple of them to make them a bit more specific, otherwise there's going to be questions where every single person has a different answer for some.

there is a screening process for ALL FF and pointlesses, after last weeks round where some people complained the questions were too specific we thought a more open round would be interesting. Some of these questions were changed to be more specific but enjoy some ambiguity guys ohmy.gif

As the hosts can verify there is scrutiny for the questions and as Lotti says we do make changes.

I personally thought the point of FF was to have questions that were a bit vague and require you to actually think about what everyone is likely to put.

It's been a long time since I took part in these quizzes but when they were first run this is the style that we used to have

Yeah I make sure to share the questions with the others behind the scenes every week when organising, then we come to a general consensus and ask for tweaks/changes. We always have rounds where there are multiple landslides where Google can often influence the top answer. It's refreshing to have a round like this that is unpredictable yet super accessible because you don't need Google for any of these.

I don't get the backlash, surely it's a good thing that the questions are less googleable? unsure.gif Makes it more interesting and less chance of an obvious landslide.

Entered! biggrin.gif There was one question in particular that I really struggled to gauge the general consensus of so that made Q10 easy.

Other people better have put the same as me for #9 kink.gif laugh.gif

All questions are subject to screening and we were all pretty unanimous that these were a great set of questions. You get questions in the original TV series like these a lot, they don't require Google and are genuinely ambiguous as to what the top answers are. That's the best a round of FF can be for me, I hosted a similar one a few years ago.

Aha, had a feeling this set of questions may prove somewhat contentious but as has been mentioned we've had a few editions in the past I have found either a bit too specific or that which required too much searching all to end up ultimately picking a random answer off a list. I realise a couple of these questions may be stretching a bit far towards the other end of the spectrum but I just fancied a more open edition (with an added emphasis on not needing to Google so much etc.), the Pointless I hosted last year was ultra-specific after all.

Thanks for the submissions so far, already over 10 biggrin.gif

These questions are definitely different to usual but I actually really liked them, as has been pointed out this is closer to the style of questions you get on an actual episode of Family Fortunes, and it's nice to have questions where you have to think of what people are most likely to think of first rather than what people think is the most well-known answer. I included a couple of these questions in my own round and I thought it would be interesting having a round which is nearly all questions of that type. I suppose we'll see if that works out or not ~
