What's your favourite song by a certain artist that's broken or ended a run of consecutive hits - #1's, top 5s, top 10s etc - for them?

A couple of my favourites are famous examples, but I'll go with them:

- Spice Girls, 'Stop' (ended their run of consecutive #1 hits at six)
- B*Witched, 'Jesse Hold On' (ended their run of hits to debut at #1 at four)
- Kylie Minogue, 'Some Kind of Bliss' (ended her run of consecutive top 20 hits at twenty three)

Girls Aloud - Untouchable ending their top 10 streak (which I'm really surprised you didn't mention haha) is a big one. It was such a big deal at the time.

Joe McElderry - The Climb actually being beat to number 1 by a Facebook campaign made the XF over exposure hit home a lot more. Although it did get to number 1 the week after, it was still a big shok something beat XF.

WAYWF by The Sats - it's such an eyesore and broke a decent run they'd had.

EDIT: just noticed you said favourite, oops, ignore me! laugh.gif

It probably would've been a big deal had they not butchered it within an inch of its life for that dreadful single mix.

Some others I completely missed out on:

- Aqua, 'My Oh My' (ended their run of consecutive #1's at three)
- Billie Piper, 'Walk of Life' (ended her run of top 10 hits at six - or seven if you count her appearance on 'Thank ABBA for the Music')
- McFly, 'Ultraviolet / Ballad of Paul K' (ended their run of consecutive top 5 hits at seven)

I Hate This Part by the Pussycat Dolls and Love Game by Lady Gaga are both two of the best songs from their respective artists imo. IHTP is one of my favourite R&B ballads ever (that piano!)

Natural Disaster by Example (with Laidback luke) #37 should have done better after 2 number 1s for example and 1 number 2 earlier in the year. It's now one of my favourite dance songs of the 10s.

Even that one was a tune music.gif although not surprised it only peaked at #37 as it's not really what the majority of people would enjoy. He used to be one of my faves constantly bringing out the bangers so I'm not fussed on him flopping in the last few years kink.gif

re Chainsmokers it's not surprising with Honest and so on flopping, recycling the same sound in all your hits (especially the vocals as well) doesn't usually end well laugh.gif

I enjoy that one the most out of Example's songs as the drop is much different to most progressive house songs and is more in line with trance I think.

I think it flopped as it wasn't as poppy as many dance songs that made the chart at this time. Maybe if it was released a few months later in 2012 when less poppy progressive house took off more (Language, Million Voices etc) it would have done better.

Still not over it cry.gif

"Radar" breaking Britney's run of 24 top 20 (and top 40 at that!) singles was a shock at the time but it serves her right for releasing a song from Blackout as a single from Circus! Honestly, who didn't own it at that time?!

Natural Disaster had a messy release which hurt its peak more than anything (though it clearly was never going to be massive, it could have been a top 30 or 20 hit).

A 5 minute version was released to iTunes as an album track on the Example album before the radio edit was released resulting in this chart run:

15/10/2011 Laidback Luke Vs Example Natural Disaster 37 73-74-{37}-44-70->5

Take A Bow doing so badly was quite curious considering it was a huge #1 in the US, and is probably better remembered than a lot of Madonna's top 10 hits in the 90s.

Calvin Harris - Pray To God (as danG suggested)
The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die (ended their consecutive run of UK Top 40 hits, at least if you don't count Hotride and Spitfire, which didn't chart)
Stereophonics - Innocent (ended their consecutive run of UK Top 40 hits. The first charting single by them to miss the Top 40 since the original 1997 release of Local Boy In The Photograph)
Biffy Clyro - Biblical (after having quite a lot of UK Top 40 hits, this 2013 song became the first one not to make it to the Top 40 since 2003's Eradicate The Doubt)

Other notable ones:

Robbie Williams: After multiple Top 20 hits in his solo career for approximately ten years, Sin Sin Sin managed to peak at 22 in early 2006, before falling and dropping out a few weeks later.
Also, the 2010 Sport Relief single Morning Sun was his first to miss the Top 40.
Maroon 5 - Won't Go Home Without You (became the first Top 100 charting song by them to miss the Top 40)
