We have a winner mellow.gif In second place is English, which is separated into Reading and English in primary but becomes a complete subject in secondary. Including grammar, punctuation, spelling, creative writing, reading, comprehension and pretty much everything covering the written word I don't think anyone can deny the subject's importance. How it is taught may be a different issue though, with exams being a complete ball-ache and texts that not everyone would readily pick up given the chance. Still it is a subject that provokes debates, interesting discussion, textual analysis and helps to build children ready for the wider world... And talking of the wider world, it's narrowly missed out on being named your least, least favourite subject but another more global subject has pipped it to the post ;o

That's right. Languages is your winner cheer.gif I did specify modern and classic languages, but apparently I was one of the only few that had a chance to take the classic languages. Still, it seems you're all frantic about French, passionate about Spanish and dedicated to learning those pesky German verb forms. I did enjoy languages at secondary school (languages at primary school is horrendous mind you) and it definitely helps on travels if only to be able to greet foreigners in their own language and not so much asking how to find the nearest shoe shop or whatever other sentences we had to memorise. I guess alongside this is an appreciation for English language too as our language is built out of many of the languages we learn at school so let's call this a dual winner for all things LANGUAGE.

01. Languages
02. English [23 votes/52.27%]
03. Science [20 votes/45.45%]
04. Mathematics [14 votes/28.57%]
05. History [12 votes/32.43%]
06. ICT/Computing [14 votes/28.57%]
07. Geography [11 votes/22.92%]
08. Music [10 votes/27.03%]
09. Religious Education [9 votes/16.36%]
10. Citizenship / PSHE [10 votes/18.18%]
11. Art & Design / D.T. [14 votes/11.67%]
12: P.E. [32 votes/26.67%]

Thank you to everyone that took part, I hope you enjoyed cheer.gif I'll be back with another installment of LEAST FAVE lounge polls v soon maybe possible.. ohmy.gif

Given that I currently teach Welsh, French and Spanish, I'm THRILLED with this news! German and Irish are also pretty good. I've always had a flair for Languages but also always thought they were pretty unpopular. So please Buzzjack stands with me!

DEAR LORD at how ICT got as high as 6th tho!

A shame that my favourite subject English did not scoop the crown but Languages is a worthy winner nevertheless! I always loved Spanish lessons. Let's just pretend the nerve wracking oral exams weren't a thing x

Thanks for this Bal, has been a lot of fun to follow and reminisce *.*

Yay, English didn't win! cheer.gif

I was honestly gutted when I was told I could only do 3 A-Levels, I really wanted to continue with French but obviously it wouldn't have been as much use for Computer Science as the other two.

Yay! I definitely wish I had stuck with languages past A-Level and made some sort of career out of it.

Thank f*** English didn't win.

I adored Spanish at secondary school and I'm loving revisiting it from a different angle as a TA now, it's so much fun and a worthy winner!!

languages should have been out first, by far the most stressful and confusing subject at GCSE and even more boring at A-Level! have no clue how it's done so well, ICT or English would have won if it was my choice x

As someone who took French in high school I'm thrilled that Languages made it on top, but as a math/economics major I feel embarrassed that it's not in the top 3 blink.gif
