To be revealed in due course.

Here are the previous Children In Need singles;

1985 • Clannad – Almost Seems (Too Late to Turn)
1986 • The County Line – Heroes
1988 • Spirit of Play with Paul McCartney – Children In Need
1989 • BBC Children In Need Choir – If You Want To Help
1995 • Patsy Palmer & Sid Owen – You Better Believe It (Children In Need)
1996 • Red Hill Children – When Children Rule The World
1997 • Lou Reed & Various Artists – Perfect Day
1998 • Denise van Outen & Johnny Vaughan feat. Steps – Especially For You
1999 • Martine McCutcheon – Love Me
2000 • S Club 7 – Never Had A Dream Come True
2001 • S Club 7 – Have You Ever
2002 • Will Young – Don't Let Me Down/You And I
2003 • Shane Richie – I'm Your Man
2004 • Girls Aloud – I'll Stand By You
2005 • Liberty X – A Night To Remember
2006 • Emma Bunton – Downtown
2007 • Spice Girls – Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)
2008 • McFly – Do Ya/Stay with Me
2009 • Peter Kay's Animated All Star Band – The Official BBC Children In Need Medley
2010 • JLS – Love You More
2011 • The Collective – Teardrop
2012 • Girls Aloud – Something New
2013 • Ellie Goulding – How Long Will I Love You
2014 • Gareth Malone's All Star Choir – Wake Me Up
2015 • Jess Glynne – Take Me Home

Add to that list;

2016 • Craig David – All We Needed

Last year 33.33% of you correctly predicted Craig David would be chosen to record the official single for Children In Need, which unfortunately didn’t peak inside the UK Top 40 Singles.

Who will be selected as the recording artist for 2017?

Get predicting now!

Out of those choices, I'd say Dua Lipa or Little Mix are most likely.

Went for Louisa Johnson as she has a ‘single’ out soon and there must’ve been a reason why they’ve waited so long after Nest Behaviour. Although I did say Louisa last year too...

Lol x

I would love Dua to do the song but not a cover and something upbeat!! We've had dreary ballads for the last four years, new "Something New" please!

I was wondering when this sort of topic was going to occur Andrew biggrin.gif

I picked 'Other' and I'll tell you why. It's 20 years this year since the original Various Artists 'Perfect Day' which went to #1 for Children in Need and sold a million copies.

It's currently not available for streaming or download in any form. I'd say get a bunch of current artists to record a new version, tack the original on to it as a B-side and you've got a surefire hit right there.

They tried something similar a few years back with an all-star version of "God Only Knows", which didn't really take off, and they also did a version of "Perfect Day" in 2000 with a completely different set of artists, which only made it to #69 in the chart, so I don't know whether a new version would be successful this time around.

Well there is that. But I think with the nostalgia around for the 90s at the moment - and don't forget the BBC showed that advert from whence it came pretty much around the clock both before and after it was a single - it's stayed in a lot of people's minds and I'd like to think now would be a good time to resurrect it.

That would make it the 2nd time that Katie Melua has stepped on Eva Cassidy's shoes - firstly with her #1 "duet" on a version of "What a Wonderful World", and now with a "Fields of Gold" cover inspired heavily by Eva's version.

!!

I'm sure it'll be a nice cover but it's not a song that I particularly care for. I think if Craig David couldn't get a top 40 hit with the year he had in 2016, Katie Melua isn't even going to be close.
