The official kennel club name is German Shepherd but during WWII people were offended so they became known as Alsations here in the UK.

What do you call them? We always called them Alsations.

I think I almost died of the cuteness

Yeah we just call them German Shepherds, although iirc Alsatian means they’re from Alsace which isn’t even German, it’s French, so maybe it depends on where they come from and they’re two different breeds?

So you use the 1940s-style politically correct term laugh.gif

I've always called them alsations, from being a kid in Yorkshire.

They're the same breed by the way, no difference.

It was a joke. They were Alsatians (not the a, not an o) when I was a child as well. I assume the fact that our parents' generation grew up in WWII was a major factor.

Indeed, although I think dogs can eat raw meat, I don't know though! But with commonsense's case there was definitely a small risk the meat pieces were thrown over having been poisoned deliberately.

Yes a woman I know feeds her dogs raw meat. You can but I wouldn't. When you think, as she says, wild dogs eat their prey raw don't they.

I prefer 'Alsatian' it sounds shorter and less formal than 'German Shepherd' and I am used to my parents using that word to describe that type of dog.
