This site is so ageist isn't it! Ageism is as just as bad as other forms of discrimination!

It wouldn't do for us all to be the same though. There are nice people like all of us here and the twats in society provide the variety. Some old people do nothing but look back and grumble. "I remember when a white sliced loaf was tuppence" Just ignore them.

I think Brexit, Indyref and the 2015 and 2017 elections proved that we could safely make a sweeping generalisation that old people were c**ts because the generations most impacted by these votes voted for a better society and the old lot voted en mass for the Daily Mail’s political agenda and thus they can collectively get in the sea

I'd restrict that to just baby boomers (the majority of which were born between 1948 and 1959) - you know the ones who had free education, easily managed to buy a house when they were young, retired early with a healthy pension, moaned when any housing developer wanted to build houses near theirs thus restricting the supply of housing and forcing the price unsustainably high. The ones who lived through a period of unprecedented wealth, yet somehow not only managed to destroy it but the planet too, and then also simultaneously went on whinging on and ON and unbelievably ON some more about people 'coming over here and taking our jobs' despite the fact that they've recently retired (early) and are now no longer participating in the jobs market - and without which an ageing population would quickly become unsustainable leading to a) crippling public debts, b) the collapse of the NHS, c) massive deflation and d) a spiralling downhill of living standards for the next generation.

Yes they had to experience the 1970s (the worst decade to blight the planet - if you remember the 60s you weren't there, if you remember the 70s the police would like to take a statement) but really... ?

Those guys really ARE sh*tty twats.

Might that generation just have had more life experience than younger people and realise that we're actually better out of the EU though? I doubt they were all swayed by the Mail and Boris and Co.

Living longer =/= life experience

Also implies that experience can only be gained through time when you could very successfully argue that someone who has spent a gap year travelling has more life experience than they would have if they spent that year working a typical retail or low-skill job - thus demonstrating that what your experiences are also has an impact

I hate big generalisations like this. My mum and dad were born in 1958 and 1959 and are apparently ‘shitty twats’ if you go by this thread. They are in fact not and didn’t experience many of the luxuries mentioned in this thread. Yeah, my mum had a free uni education but she paid for it the rest of her life as she couldn’t get a job in her field because employers couldn’t afford anyone with a PHD.

I also spend a lot of time with young people who I deem to be shitty twats and so I’ve concluded that shitty twats don’t come out of generations but most probably bloodlines.
