I've found quite often when people do a quick description of their music taste on some site, that they say things like "I like all music...except jazz" or "...except rap" etc. I'm wondering how this fits into the way you see your own music taste? (I do enjoy making threads about music tastes biggrin.gif)

I'd like to think we're all pretty open to hearing most things, but do you find you have a genre whose songs you just almost never can get into?

Tropical house and future bass.

Although I like Unicorn Kid's early tropical house tracks because they were faster.

For future bass did actually I like 'Another Life' by Afrojack, David Guetta ft Ester Dean as the drop is more dramatic and the vocal is better, I also liked 'Matches' by Cash Cash and Rozes because of the funky drop but no other future bass song I have found that I like sadly.

Tech house too I have never really been into, stuff like 'Cola', 'You Want Me' and 'Rinse and Repeat' just bores me a bit. Although I did like 'Jack' by Breach as it sounded to me a bit like a remix of Age Of Empires I soundtrack complete with the clicking on the elephant noises. A bit like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aujme-o68Q8

Heavy Metal is one that I just completely do not understand at all, I don't even get how people listen to it tbh, absolutely nothing about it interests me

I would like to think that I am generally quite open-minded when it comes to music. However, screamo music is something that I have never been able to take to. There are rare cases when I find that screaming in songs works but most of the time it's really painful to listen to. I feel like the singer wants my soul.

Am listening to the Deep Discofox sample on that genre map now oh my! I thought it was going to be disco with a deep house bassline but its not.

Also Cher Lloyd's 'Want U Back' is officially declared as part of the 'post-teen pop' genre then! ohmy.gif

Nightcore, breakbeat hardcore, looped house, UK hardcore, PC music and eurotrance aren't part of it (although bubble trance sounds similar to eurotrance and bouncy house sounds similar to UK hardcore)

Love the sample for speedcore too!

No Lithuanian pop category on that genre map! GoodOldDays would be disappointed if he went on it!

Only modern genre I don’t like/consider as noise is Screamo... I can usually understand how people like 99% of genres but screamo really doesn’t do anything for me :’) and it’s a rock thing so I have a couple of my fave bands like Paramore and ATC with a little of that. I guess it’s a genre for people who like to “scream along” to songs, not that I don’t love loud bassy dance/rock songs just as much as quiet acoustic songs sometimes depending on my mood, screaming lyrics rather than EMOTING them don’t make me feel involved or passionate etc. about said song

I really dislike a lot of country music because I can't stand the typical southern US accents - I don't say any more that I dislike the entire genre though as I'm a little more open minded now, I have heard a few good country songs (and I do generally rather like folk music which isn't a great deal different to country really). I like to think I am open to all genres x

I tend to keep an open mind when it comes to music. I can jell pretty well with anything from metal to Gregorian chant to classical to jazz to pop to dubstep to folk. But honestly, if there's anything I CANNOT stand, it's atonal and noise music. Ultra avant-garde stuff like free/loft jazz, atonal/serialist/aleatoric classical, noise music, grindcore/pornogrind/goregrind, and etc. It's not because I don't "understand" (I have studied the theory behind them), but just because it takes everything that is even remotely enjoyable about music (emotion, melody, rhythm, harmony, etc.) and just completely throws them out the window. Ultramodernist/expressionist stuff like that drives me up the wall. I mean, there are SOME exceptions (like Pendrecki's Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima) that I can enjoy, but for the most part no. Just no.

Also, a lot of trap, satanic black metal, and brocountry is off-putting to me on a lyrical level.

Im not personally a fan of classical music apart from like a couple of Katherine Jenkins songs and that time to say goodbye song. Generally, I am quite open-minded, I don't like boxing myself up to being "only inide" I love a lot of other genres, pop, rnb and dance too.

Most genres of music I'm actually alright with. The notable exception is obviously Trap.

And is tween pop a thing? That as well then (and tween rap)
