Might seem a bit premature given it's only Boxing Day but with the New Year less than a week away I thought it would be an interesting one to start.

Does anyone have any New Years Resolutions for 2018? Did anyone make one for this year they've been successful with? Does anyone make but break them within about a week?

Discuss! smile.gif

I'm notorious for making New Years Resolutions and always breaking them like drink less, eat healthier and all the cliche ones like "don't bite your nails" or "save money" as well. I don't think I made any for 2017 however so I think this was probably one year I didn't break any having said that! laugh.gif I think for Buzzjack I think my resolution would be to post around the site a bit more and maybe become a bit more active. Over the last two months or so I've become relatively inactive which is down to work load so don't always have time in the week to post (especially in my AF's) which is a shame so aiming to change this in 2018!

This is such a generic one but lose weight most definitely. I am now up to 11 stone 7 lbs which is a far cry from the 8 stone that I was before starting birth control early last year. I would quite like to get back down to 10 stone so I'm going to try and make it happen so I can feel happy about my graduation photos in July and not have them haunt me forever instead kink.gif I have had these thoughts for a while now, but the graduation thing is the kick of motivation I have needed, as I hated every single school photo of me and would like to avoid retreading those feelings. Going to exercise more and cut out snacking once all my Christmas sweets and chocolate have gone.

It would also be nice to overcome the horrendous anxiety I have about the prospect of driving this year, once I have finished Uni, but we shall see. I think I'm going to bridge the gap between finishing University and starting a job by working on some kind of creative project so I have something to focus on during what I imagine to be a stressful time, maybe making videos, now that I have a new tripod and macro lens on top of the one my Nikon camera already came with. Idk. But that and starting driving lessons at last are certainly things to consider.

Same thing I say every year to be honest which is get fit and lose weight. I’d also like to give myself a better work/life balance. At the moment, I do a lot for work but not a lot for myself.

I would definitely like to improve my diet and exercise more. So generic yes, but I feel now I'm in a stable job for now, it's the one thing I'm still not particularly content with about myself so I will try this year. I walked for as far as 14 miles last year, I'd really like to do more of those and get to further distances.

Less takeaways - especially at university. This includes bad snacking as well. My diet is otherwise good and I am normally exercise four times a week but I feel this is letting me down. I think it'll just be planning my food more.

To be healthier, yes. I eat too much chocolate and sweet things!

To do more things with my life too like socialising more and working more (which probably means not being on Buzzjack as much)! To get back into making songs again too!

My eating habits again, not that I’m overweight at all but I still don’t always eat the right foods etc. although my meals are rather healthy so I guess that’s why I don’t put on much weight thinking.gif

Apart from that I guess I don’t have much else tbh, I could say “don’t get depressed” etc. but that never works, it always comes back no matter how good things are for mi atm but let’s not get into that downer stuff kink.gif my social situation is getting better I mean I could get a little more interactive like, I need to stop thinking that most people overreact to everything irl as well as on here when I know (and have proof) that many don’t, suppose it’s an #introthang to get used to people’s personalities before engaging on a less “default slate” interaction, I know being yourself you should always do but if I get a strong negative reaction to it I get very anxious and want to dig my head into ha nearest hole ohmy.gif

- Get a girlfriend is probably quite close to the top of that list, although given I've had nae luck in that department the last xx years, I'm not betting the house on it.
- The usual stuff of eat healthily and exercise more, both of which usually end up lasting less that 2 days.
- Move on from my current job - my contract with my current employer is up in April, and I can consider alternative employment at that point; try to get something ore media accountant-y to mix my two areas of competence.
- Pass my final accountancy exam, so I can call myself a proper accountant.
- Make banana scented candles.

Oh, and one more thing - finally do something I've left hanging all these years, and finally write a novel/film script/E.P of songs about cake played on the ukulele.

Like every year, my New Years Resolution is to not make a New Years Resolution.

Progress is, so far, unsuccessful.

- Get out and do more 'stuff' - leave my comfort zone (and my computer) more
- Force myself to learn to drive
- Get a job when I go to Uni (I'm a bit nervous about getting a job somewhere where I know everyone so I'm lying to myself that I should be more confident in a place I don't know as many people)
- Actually finish writing a book
- Be motivated enough to do well in my A-Levels tongue.gif

I don't really think of them as resolutions, more just things i wanna do next year. Every year I intend on going to as many gigs as i can as a standard but I'm gonna make more of an effort to say yes to things that might be outside my comfort zone and challenge myself more, try and experience some new things etc. I really want to travel more, even if its just around Scotland and use that as motivation to improve my photography folio. Tbh i wanna be sitting this time next year and have at least one cool thing I've done each month of 2018 to think back on as I'm a bit like wtf did i even do this year?? laugh.gif

Idk how much of that will work out because for the first time ever I've got zero idea where I'm headed in life. I finish uni in June and I've got no job lined up so thats terrifying. At the moment I'm thinking I'll apply for as many jobs as i can in my field in Glasgow so i can move back home until i can afford to move out again and if something comes up then great but if not i might just need to transfer Morrisons branches and work in retail temporarily until i can get a job that i actually want to do kink.gif i also want to do a masters in sociology i think, just to add to my degree but i think I'll do that in 2019 if i can and then providing i have the cash, travel as much as i can next year but we shall see laugh.gif
