I type this thread from a hospital bed at the Bristol Royal Infirmary after a suspected case of kidney stones which was causing me tremendous pain, so Im now just waiting on the results from the X-ray to confirm it and then maybe it can be treated.

Ive been here for around 5 hours now, and Im not a fan of these hospital gowns they make you wear.

Have you been hospitalised before and what was it for?

Oh gosh Wardy, I hope everything's better soon sad.gif

I'm lucky in that I've not been hospitalised since I was a young kid, when I was diagnosed with asthma. Thankfully my inhalers have controlled it since and I've not had any issues (touch wood)!

Hope you’re ok.

I consider myself exceedingly lucky that I’ve never had to stay over at a hospital-not since I was born. I’ve spent plenty of time visiting others in hospital.

Hope you get better soon

I work in a hospital, so I see many people coming in for various different reasons and it does really make you think differently. I am one of the lucky people to have had not have to face any severe illnesses as of yet.

Kidney stones are horrendous, so sorry to hear that sad.gif Fingers crossed for a quick recovery!

Not sure I've ever stayed overnight in a hospital actually, I've just had a couple of easy operations (such as tonsils) and twice I've had to get stitches from cracking my head open. Haven't been treated in a hospital for anything since I was 12 so I'm quite lucky as well!

Kidney stones can be very painful. I've had them a few times but haven't needed to go to hospital.

I broke my arm when I was 9 falling over in the school playground and had to go to A&E. In 2000,I had an operation to remove a bronchial cyst which needed an overnight stay.

I hope you feel better soon.

Kidney stones sound like the most painful thing imaginable. Praying for you Wardy.

I've only ever been to the hospital a couple of times as far as I can remember, once for an ear infection when I was a very young child and again when I ran under my dad's car boot as he was closing it and I had to get a couple of stitches on the top of my head. Never had to stay there for an extended period of time.

Oh goodness Wardy sad.gif wishing you a speedy recovery!

Since my birth I think the only other time I had to go to the hospital was after I had an epileptic fit. I went once in Watford after the fit (I remember being given Lucozade and a biscuit, goals), then a second time in Luton, where they carried out tests on me to determine if I actually had epilepsy. Luckily I didn't, I just had two fits and then never had any again. I believe one of them was triggered by the lasers when I was watching an episode of The Powerpuff Girls.

Hope you're ok Wardy!

I've never has to stay overnight in a hospital thankfully, I've only ever even been to the hospital once and it was just for a black eye and I think my Dad over-reacted a bit, I was dead young but I remember waiting for hours and hating the hospital

Thank you for the kind wishes. heart.gif

Results showed a 3mm kidney stone on the left side of my body. Ive been given Co-Codamol tablets to ease the pain until I can pass it naturally. At least now I know what was causing the pain, even if it seems something so tiny that could do it.

Im leaving the hospital to come home shortly.

I've had a few stays in hospital, mainly down to my diabetes.

A few days when I was first diagnosed, since I was in Shetland and needed to go to Aberdeen.
Twice I'd been in for several days due to getting really ill and not being able to keep food/drink down and so my blood sugars got worryingly low.

More recently with my eye I'd had days in for surgery and stsying for a few days. Had two ops and got another one next month.

Sorry to hear that Andrew - glad that you are on the way to making a recovery.

Last time I was in hospital was in 1994 when I had suspected appendicitis - in the end it wasn't though so they probably thought I was a hypochondriac. The only operation I've had was in 1992 when I had grommets put in my ears to widen my ear canals, I vaguely remember staying overnight for that but that was in the children's ward.

I wish you an awardinary recovery! Hope you get better soon.

No I have never been to hospital for any period of time, just accident and emergency when I was younger for a head injury.

I've been in hospital for a couple of broken bones. Quite a late night trip to the old Dundee Royal Infirmary when I was 5 and I broke my arm, and then in Nov '14 I broke my leg so was in the MIU in St Andrews for a couple hours getting scanned and plastered then the next morning in the Victoria for an operation to put a plate and pins in. That is so far the only time I've stayed overnight in a hospital. Got some cool scars out of it and the bit of the hospital I was in was brand new, with lovely staff so it wasn't too bad! Plus it was a single room which was a bonus.

Second hospital visit in a week today as Im admitted under doctors recommendation to the urologist to get advanced treatment for the pain of the kidney stones which by this stage should have cleared up.

Just been given some very strong painkillers and waiting to see what happens next as I lay on another hospital bed in a week. ohmy.gif

Update: Im being kept in overnight.
