Hello,

As a newly appointed mod, I am looking into doing a R&B throwback playlist each week on Spotify as well as a current one with new and upcoming songs (hopefully ones that people aren’t aware of).

Just wondering if people would be interested in this / use this - if I see there is demand for one, I will make it happen!

Jack, babes, I don’t use Spotify (currently) so I wouldn’t use the playlists, but I’d totally be interested in seeing what’s in the playlists because it might spark some nostalgia and also remind me of when urban music was much better on the whole. So I say: yes please!

Yeah sure, I'll post YouTube links for each playlist I create (or a YouTube playlist as well - do people still use those?! laugh.gif)

Haha, the only time I ever do is when I'm watching back an old Eurovision Song Contest and the songs are all on there individually and you have to watch them in a specific order laugh.gif That's pretty niche so I'd otherwise say no!

For me I'd literally be happy to see a list and use it as inspiration; can find it easily on Apple Music which is what I use.

I'll be interested in a R&B throwback playlist as well. Would you still want me to continue with the #ThrowbackThursday thread?

Here is the first Spotify playlist - this time from exactly 15 years ago, 2003!

Highlights include the following;

Snoop Dogg (ft. Pharell Williams) - Beautiful

It only hit #23 in the UK but it is still such a classic - it did slightly better in the US where it got to #06. A breezy, Summer R&B anthem with amazing production and sees Pharell at his absolute finest.

Kelly Rowland - Stole

The debut single from Kelly - a emotive song about how lives were taken away from young people far too young. Something that is even more relevant now, sadly sad.gif A great song, that really deserves more love.

Missy Elliott - Gossip Folks

In my opinion, one of Missy's personal bests and when she was at the top of her game. A great video as well, which she really excelled in.

The full list -

50 Cent – In Da Club
B2K (ft. P Diddy) – Bump Bump Bump
Big Brovaz – OK
DMX – X Gon Give It To Ya
Eminem – Sing For The Moment
Eve – Satisfaction
Ja Rule (ft. Ashanti) – Mesmerize
Jay-Z – Excuse Me Mis
Jennifer Lopez (ft. LL Cool J) – All I Have
Justin Timberlake – Cry Me A River
Kelly Rowland – Stole
Lisa Maffia – All Over
Mariah Carey (ft. Cam’ron) – Boy (I Need You)
Mario – Just A Friend
Missy Elliott (ft. Ludacris) – Gossip Folks
Mis-Teeq – Scandalous
Nas – I Can
Nelly (ft. Justin Timberlake) – Work It
Sean Paul – Gimme The Light
Snoop Dogg (ft. Pharell) – Beautiful

YES, Gossip Folks is an all time fave of mine!! Totally agree about the video, I remember always waiting for it to be played on TV at the time.

All Over is another fave and I also love Bump Bump Bump, Mesmerize, All I Have, Scandalous and I Can from that list! heart.gif

LOVE this idea Jack *.* I will make sure to check it out each week! 2003 is a great year for commercial music so I approve of that as a starting point.

Love this idea wub.gif

Stole is stunning, such a perfect way for Kelly to kick off her solo career! Scanadlous is of course a classic bop of life too and sounds fab to this day, and Cry Me A River is in my all time top 100 for SURE.
