A spin off topic from the BuzzJack Directory thread.

Social Media has been around a good 14 years or so now since the likes of MySpace, Facebook and Bebo launched. Twitter came along shortly afterwards and the only real popular social network to follow it was Instagram. Of course many others have and do exist such as Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Tinder and other formats too.

What though could, or should, the next big social media platform be like?

Should it be focused on sharing story updates or posting images be videos.

What unique features that arenít available at present on other social media platforms would you like to see?

Discuss.

I think the more interesting question is what will be the next MySpace / MSN / Bebo and actually die out. I think its going to be Snapchat

No way, I think Snapchat alongside Instagram are the two most popular social media outlets these days, particularly with the youngsters.

I think Snapchat will go the same way as Vine did in a few years as it's seemingly being replaced by Instagram (which seems to be sticking around for the long term like Facebook and Twitter).

Snapchat has already been eaten up by the other social media giants Facebook and Instagram. I could certainly see it losing appeal soon and Iím one of the former user of it.

I can see Facebook, Twitter and Instagram lasting forever unless a major security breach took place.

What about a social media platform thatís based on online gaming?

I've heard the name Twitch about a lot recently, I think that's to do with gaming though more about watching the live vlogging gaming YouTubers.

Yeah that's just like Youtube, but the streaming service is a lot better and easier for both creators and fans!

Discord is kinda for gaming too but people use it for other stuff as well like I'm on a Drag Race one

I've seen Patreon being thrown around here and there as well but that's more of an funding website if anything

I think SnapChat will last the test of time (it probably already has) and it will be musical.ly that will go the way of Vine

Honestly, I think Twitter will be dead within 10 years, if not sooner. It'll be slow, but their shares have plummeted over the past couple of years, it's not doing nearly as well as it used to be. Obviously it's still massive for now and has lasted well for a long time, but not convinced it'll be with us forever.
