Have you ever been *really* close to one?

When I was at school, one of the buildings was struck - scared the sh1t out of me!

On a related subject, check out the spectacular one at 3m55 on this clip... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h6lUCpj0DA

The chimney of my old house got struck 14 years ago, the chimney was right above my room which I was in at the time. The majority of our electrical items which were plugged in got totally fried (but were replaced within 6 weeks on insurance), and it was unsafe to go outside via the patio door for a few days due to the loose bricks which were left on the roof.
