QUOTE Madonna to headline Glastonbury 2019? Andrew Trendell | Jun 26, 2018 8:03 am The ‘Like A Virgin’ icon has long been rumoured to top the bill at Worthy Farm next year, but now insiders have told The Sun that she is among the first to be booked during Glasto’s fallow year. “Preparations are already well under way after they’ve taken this year off, and Michael and his daughter Emily Eavis want to make it better than ever,” they reportedly told the tabloid. “They have always been massive fans of Madonna and know she would put on an unforgettable show. “It was really important that they had a diverse line-up for the 2019 festival after criticism of previous ones.” The source added: “With this being a fallow year they want to secure a really big name to drive ticket sales. “Thanks to all her huge hits, they are convinced that she would be a real crowd pleaser on the Pyramid Stage.” NME has approached representatives for both Madonna and Glastonbury for comment. Michael Eavis has been very vocal about wanting to book the Queen Of Pop for some time, saying in the year 2000 after Bowie played: “I would really like to get Madonna, I tell you that. I might spend a bit of time working on that actually . . . “I’d be very keen on getting Madonna. That’s the one to do.” Other rumoured headliners for Glastonbury 2019 include Arctic Monkeys, ABBA, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift, Oasis and Kendrick Lamar. This comes after Eavis also said that Culture Club would be a ‘great idea’ to play the legend’s slot next year. Michael Eavis said that the 2019 headliners will be “two or three [acts] that have never played”. Meanwhile, a spokesman for ABBA recently issued a statement denying rumours that the band could headline the next edition of Glastonbury. Speaking to NME, Emily Eavis said: “Headliners should be the best artists around – whether they’re rappers, pop stars or rock bands. The genre is irrelevant – it’s about who is going to produce the most exciting show and is making the best music.” “We always encounter debate, which is great, that’s what it’s all about. Most music fans are open minded and many discover new music by coming to festivals and getting blown away by some amazing artist that they’ve never seen before.” (Source: NME) |

I feel like this story gets reeled out every year, but it would be such a great moment to see Madonna at Glastonbury. She really knows how to work a crowd and so many of her hits would work fantastically in this setting, belting out hooks for the crowd to chant back at her. I'm thinking 'Everybody' at the Confessions Promo Tour, 'Music' at Live 8, 'Living for Love' at the Grammys, 'Hung Up' on Confessions Tour... those hooks just get everyone involved, regardless of whether they know the song or not.

A Glastonbury headlining spot could do big things for the album if timed right and with solid material. I'm getting too excited for something that might not even happen yet! :')
Would be cool to see her get yanked and fall into the mud :') If she wore a cape to Glasto then she's just asking for trouble! |

A rock version of Dung Up would make it decent tho. The rock version of 'Hung Up' on the S&S Tour just doesn't cut it for me. Rock 'Ray of Light', yes. Rock 'American Life', yes. Hell, even Rock 'Material Girl' works, but 'Hung Up' should always be performed with its original production and dance routine. |

Seriously Everybody? Nobody apart from die hard Madonna fans really know that song, and the casual Glastonbury audience certainly wouldn't. Same for Living for love. The others fair enough. |

I'm just giving examples of how she's used the hooks of her songs to get the crowd going rather than suggesting she should use those specific songs. Even so, the hooks are so effective that it doesn't really matter if the audience know the song or not. If she did choose to perform 'Everybody', it wouldn't take long to get the whole audience chanting back "dance and sing, get up and do your thing". |

Even if you didn’t know everybody you could learn it whilst in the crowd . Dance and sing , get up and do your thing is not hard to pick up . Would love for her to perform this track . It was her first ever single and the single responsible for her getting signed .
Living For Love is also more known than what people think . I would love for her to open with music and end with like a prayer !!! |

Co-organiser Emily Eavis says Madonna hasn't been booked for Glastonbury 2019. https://metro.co.uk/2018/10/12/glastonburys...booked-8032563/
