Lana Del Rey
Mariners Apartment Complex
Norman F***ing Rockwell | 2018

1st Single
Released: 12th September 2018
Label: Lana Del Rey

Video

Biography

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1985), known professionally as Lana Del Rey, is an American singer and songwriter. Her music has been noted by critics for its stylized cinematic quality, its preoccupation with themes of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholia, and its references to pop culture, particularly 1950s and 1960s Americana.

Raised in Upstate New York, Del Rey moved to New York City in 2005 to embark on her music career. Following numerous projects including her debut studio album and the unreleased Sirens, Del Rey's breakthrough came after the viral success of her single "Video Games" in 2011. She then signed with Interscope and Polydor later that year. Her major label debut Born to Die (2012) proved an international success and spawned her first top-ten single on the Billboard Hot 100 with the Cedric Gervais remix of "Summertime Sadness". Since, Del Rey has released the US Billboard 200 number-one albums Ultraviolence (2014) and Lust for Life (2017), along with top-ten releases Paradise (2012) and Honeymoon (2015). She has received nominations for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for both Paradise and Lust for Life.

Del Rey has contributed to a variety of film soundtracks, most notably "Young and Beautiful" for The Great Gatsby (2013) and the eponymous theme for Big Eyes (2014), which garnered her a Grammy and Golden Globe nomination, respectively. Del Rey starred in the musical film Tropico (2013) and in short films to accompany her work including Ride (2012), National Anthem (2012), and Freak (2015), all of which she wrote.

As of 2018, Del Rey has sold over 15 million albums worldwide.

Mariah Carey
GTFO
-

Promotional Single
Released: 13th September 2018
Label: Epic Records

Video

Biography

Mariah Carey (born March 27, 1969 or 1970) is an American singer and songwriter. Referred to as the "Songbird Supreme" by the Guinness World Records, she is noted for her five-octave vocal range, vocal power, melismatic style, and signature use of the whistle register.

After signing to Columbia Records, she released her debut album, Mariah Carey (1990), which spawned four number-one singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart: "Vision of Love", "Love Takes Time", "Someday", and "I Don't Wanna Cry". She followed this chart success with the number-one single "Emotions", from her second album of the same name, making her the first and only artist to have their first five singles reach number-one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Following her marriage to Sony Music head Tommy Mottola, Carey became the label's highest-selling act with the follow-up albums Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (1994), and Daydream (1995). These albums spawned a string of successful singles including the international number-one "Without You", holiday track "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "One Sweet Day", which became the longest-running U.S. number-one single in history with a total of 16 weeks. After divorcing Mottola, Carey adopted a new image and incorporated more elements of hip hop into her music with the release of Butterfly (1997). Billboard named her the most successful artist of the 1990s in the United States, while World Music Awards honored her as the world's best-selling recording artist of the 1990s. On May 10, 2000, she received the 'Artist of the Millenium' award.

Carey parted with Columbia in 2000, and signed a record-breaking $100 million recording contract with Virgin Records. In the weeks prior to the release of her film Glitter and its accompanying soundtrack in 2001, she suffered a physical and emotional breakdown and was hospitalized for severe exhaustion. The project was poorly received and led to a general decline in the singer's career. Carey's recording contract was bought out for $50 million by Virgin and she signed a multi-million dollar deal with Island Records the following year. After a relatively unsuccessful period, she returned to the top of music charts with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005). It became the world's second best-selling album of 2005 and produced "We Belong Together", which made her the only artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 Decade-End chart twice. Carey revived her film career with a supporting role in Precious (2009), which earned her the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Throughout her career, Carey has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. According to the RIAA, she is the third-best-selling female artist in the United States, with 63.5 million certified albums. With the release of "Touch My Body" (2008), Carey gained her 18th number-one single in the United States, more than any other solo artist. In 2012, she was ranked second on VH1's list of the 100 greatest female artists in music history. Aside from her commercial accomplishments, Carey has won 5 Grammy Awards, 19 World Music Awards, 10 American Music Awards, and 14 Billboard Music Awards, and has been consistently credited with inspiring a generation of singers.

Biography

Fredo
London-based grime MC Fredo focuses his lyrics on his drug-dealing lifestyle, the streets that he calls home, and all the money he's made. Hailing from London's infamously tough Mozart Estate, Fredo was considered one of the leading figures in the notorious London gang Harrow Road Boys. He practiced his craft as an MC for years, before emerging in 2016 with the single "They Ain't 100." The track immediately garnered attention, including a small co-sign from Drake, who featured the track in his 30th birthday mix on OVO Sound Radio. The same year he released two further singles, "Trapspot" and "Pattern Gang," before appearing on Kojo Funds and Abra Cadabra's hit single "Dun Talkin [Remix]" alongside Yxng Bane, Frisco, and JME. In 2017 Fredo escalated the hype he had already received, releasing his third single, "Get the Pot," early in the year, quickly followed by his debut appearance on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth, both in preparation for his debut full-length, Get Rich or Get Recalled, which was released independently in March of that year. - iTunes

Young T & Bugsey
There aren't many young rap pretenders who could write a track one week, shoot its video the next, then watch it fire to nearly half a million plays and counting seven days after that. Then again, most young MCs aren't Young T & Bugsey, the Nottingham duo whose fierce, eclectic hip-hop - as evidenced on quickly-assembled new single 'Gangland' - has turned them into ones-to-watch, championed by Stormzy, Tim Westwood and many more.

"Our sound is the both of our cultures and backgrounds without any kinda boundaries or restrictions," say the pair, who collide murky, bass-heavy beats with sounds from their childhoods: ad libs borrowed from their respective Nigerian and Jamaican parents' record collections, grime flows inspired by school days rapping over instrumentals nabbed from YouTube, and hooks paying homage to lazy sofa sessions in front of MTV Base. "50 Cent, Snoop, Pharrell - that era was it for us," laughs Young T. "Hot summer days, you'd still be inside watching MTV Base, the whole day."

Young T & Bugsey met aged 15, having been aware of each other's DIY recordings on separate sides of the city. When they eventually linked up, first as part of a collective before zeroing in on their chemistry as a duo, they quickly found themselves to be on a similar level, musically and otherwise. "We each bring something to the table that the other maybe wouldn't," says Bugsey. "We're very different in a lot of ways but in other ways exactly the same. And we've grown up together from there. My problems are his problems, his problems are my problems."

Building their project from a community arts space in Nottingham's St Ann's area, their grind towards the brink of blowing up began with a debut single, '1st Quarter', which was followed by more tracks, each one building their buzz in the local region and beyond. Then came a chance encounter with Stormzy behind the scenes of a Westwood Crib session in 2015. "We were bare young and thought: we gotta rap for him," says Bugsey. "He started rapping with us, so we're there going back to back with Stormzy. He felt what we were doing and we're grateful to say he's been really supportive since."

Since then, breakout singles 'Glistenin' and 'No Mickey Mouse Ting' have further helped establish them as on a mission. "Shooting the videos for those felt like a moment for Nottingham," say the pair, who call the city a big influence on their identity. "When you're not from London, when you accept you're an outsider in those terms, it's like, bruv, if you can get your city behind you, then you're good." With more singles, festival dates and a long-form project on the horizon, it'll be the world next.

Biography

Calvin Harris
Adam Richard Wiles (born 17 January 1984), known professionally as Calvin Harris, is a Scottish DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer. His debut studio album I Created Disco was released in June 2007 and it spawned two UK top 10 singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls". In 2009, Harris released his second studio album Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was later certified gold by the BPI. Its lead single "I'm Not Alone" became his first song to top the UK Singles Chart.

Harris rose to international prominence with the release of his third studio album 18 Months in October 2012. Topping the UK charts, the album became his first to chart on the US Billboard 200 chart. All eight of the album's singles, including "Feel So Close", "Sweet Nothing" and "I Need Your Love" reached the top 10 in the UK. At the time, Harris broke the record for the most top 10 songs from one studio album on the UK Singles Chart with eight entries, surpassing Michael Jackson. Harris released his fourth studio album Motion in November 2014. It debuted at number two in the UK and at number five in the US and became Harris's second consecutive number one album on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

Harris has collaborated with numerous other recording artists. His collaboration with Rihanna "We Found Love" became an international success, giving Harris his first number one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. In October 2014, he became the first artist to place three songs simultaneously on the top 10 of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. He also became the first British solo artist to reach more than one billion streams on Spotify. Harris has received ten Brit Award nominations—three for Best British Male and four Grammy nominations, winning a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2013. He received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2013 and at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards was named Top Dance/Electronic Artist.

One of the most successful musicians in contemporary British popular culture, Harris appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in the United Kingdom. Additionally, Harris topped Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid DJs for five consecutive years from 2013 to 2017. Harris runs his own record label, Fly Eye Records.

Biography

Sigala
Sigala is the musical nom de plume of Bruce Fielder, a London-based house DJ, producer, and remixer. Born and raised in Norfolk, England, Fielder began playing piano as a child, and played in various bands after graduating university. He found work as a producer, and co-wrote Ella Eyre and Sigma's 2015 U.K. hit single "Good Times." His first solo single as Sigala was "Easy Love," an energetic house tune built around a sample of the Jackson 5's iconic hit "ABC." Released by Ministry of Sound, it entered the U.K. singles chart and shot up to number one in its second week. Fielder's second single, "Sweet Lovin'" (featuring singer/songwriter Bryn Christopher), hit number three and was certified gold or platinum in several countries. Several more hits followed in 2016, including "Say You Do" (featuring Imani and DJ Fresh), "Give Me Your Love" (featuring John Newman and Chic's Nile Rodgers), and "Ain't Giving Up," a collaboration with Craig David that appeared on his sixth album, Following My Intuition. In 2017, Sigala co-produced the single "Show You Love" with Danish DJ Kato, sung by Hailee Steinfeld. He then paired with singer Paloma Faith for the 2018 single "Lullaby." - iTunes

Ella Eyre
By the age of 19, the powerfully voiced, BRIT School-educated Ella Eyre had already been featured on a U.K. number one single. "Waiting All Night" combined an intense performance from Eyre with the inventive production skills of fellow Londoners Rudimental. Issued to coincide with the drum'n'bass act's debut album Home -- also an instant number one record -- the success of both releases was reinforced by Eyre's involvement in a spring 2013 Rudimental U.K. tour. While "Waiting All Night" wasn't her first appearance on record, it significantly raised Eyre's profile and also helped to vindicate Universal's decision to sign her to their newly established Virgin EMI label. Those who were in anticipation of her debut solo material in the meantime sought out Other People's Heartache, Pt. 2, a 2012 download-only mixtape by rising London alt rock act Bastille that featured Eyre on two tracks: "No Angels" and "Free."

Her own singles soon began to hit the charts, including 2013's "Deeper" and a pair of Top 20 hits in 2014, "If I Go" and "Comeback." By the end of the year, Eyre had finished work on her debut full-length Feline, featuring an array of producers (Ilya, DJ Fresh, Sigma, Sigala). The album appeared in February 2015, peaking at number four in the British chart; soon after, the single "Together" became her third Top 20 hit in less than a year. A 2017 collaborative single with Sigala called "We Came Here for Love" arrived in early 2017, reaching number six on the U.K. charts. It was followed later that year by the single "Ego," which featured Ty Dolla $ign. Also in 2017, Eyre participated on the Artists for Grenfell charity recording of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

Meghan Trainor
Scoring her first hit at 20 years old with the dance-friendly paean to body positivity "All About That Bass," American singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor topped the charts with a retro-pop sound that won her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2016. Up until that point, she had already devoted most of her life to music. Born in December 1993, Trainor was raised on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, where she began making music when she was seven, and wrote her first song at the age of 11. Trainor attended high school at the Nauset High School on Cape Cod; there she sang and played trumpet in the jazz band, and also studied guitar, taking lessons from Johnny Spampinato, noted guitarist with NRBQ and the Incredible Casuals. In addition, Trainor played guitar and keyboards, and sang with a local Nantucket band called Island Fusion for four years. She attended the Berklee College of Music's Performance Program, a special five-week course, in 2009 and 2010, receiving high marks and reaching the finals of their songwriting competition. By the time she was 18, Trainor had self-released three albums of her own material and landed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music (who placed her songs with artists such as Rascal Flatts, Macy Kate, Common Kings, and Sabrina Carpenter) before she signed a deal with Epic Records.

Trainor's first single for Epic was "All About That Bass," in which she proudly declared she's "no stick figure silicon Barbie doll," and "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top." The pastel-colored video for "All About That Bass" became an online sensation, racking up over 1,600,000 views on YouTube within a month of its debut in June 2014. Soon, "All About That Bass" stormed up the Billboard Hot 100, reaching the pole position not only in the U.S. but throughout the world. As it racked up eight weeks on the top of the U.S. charts, it wound up getting certified five-times platinum, selling over four million copies in America alone; international sales reached over six million, cementing "All About That Bass"' status as one of the biggest singles of 2014. In comparison, its sequel, "Lips Are Moving," paled, but it was still a notable hit, reaching four on the Billboard charts and earning double-platinum certification, setting the stage nicely for the January 2015 release of Trainor's debut, Title. The album promptly hit number one in multiple countries. Her third single from the album, "Dear Future Husband," reached number 24 on the U.S. singles chart. A contribution to the Peanuts Movie soundtrack, a co-write on Rascal Flatts' single "I Like the Sound of That," and most significantly, a Grammy nomination, rounded out her impressive year.

A few weeks before the March 2016 release of "No," the first single from her second album, Trainor won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. The following May, she released her sophomore studio album, Thank You, which included the hits "No," "Me Too," and "Better" (featuring Yo Gotti). In 2017, Trainor released the single "I'm a Lady," which appeared in that year's computer-animated adventure/comedy film Smurfs: The Lost Village. In February 2018, Trainor released "No Excuses," the lead single from her upcoming third album.
