Depends how you count Three Lions - if you don't count that as a 2018 #1, we're on 13 compared to last year's 14. Three Lions would bring us level.

Cher Lloyd
None Of My Business
-

1st Single
Released: 19th October 2018
Label: Polydor

Video

Biography

Cher Lloyd (born 28 July 1993) is an English singer, songwriter, and model. Lloyd rose to fame in 2010 when she finished fourth in the seventh series of The X Factor. Following the seventh series finale, she was signed to Syco Music. Lloyd's debut single, "Swagger Jagger", was released in July 2011 and entered at number one on the UK Singles Chart. Her second single, "With Ur Love" featuring Mike Posner, was released on 31 October 2011, and peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart. Lloyd's debut album, Sticks and Stones had two releases: its standard edition and a US version. The album peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart while the latter version debuted at number nine in the US Billboard 200. Lloyd signed to US record label Epic Records in 2011.

Lloyd achieved mainstream success in the US with the solo version of her single "Want U Back", which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her next song "Oath", featuring American rapper Becky G, failed to match the success, peaking at 73. She released her second album, Sorry I'm Late in 2014. The album failed to match the success of its predecessor, peaking at number 21 on the UK Albums Chart and number 12 on the Billboard 200. After a collaboration with singer Demi Lovato, Lloyd had a two-year absence from the music industry.

In July 2016, Lloyd released the single "Activated". The song was described as a "memo of Cher to her fans to say she is back and she is stronger than ever". Two years later, in October 2018, Lloyd released the debut single from her upcoming third album, "None of My Business".

Billie Eilish
when the party's over
-

4th Single
Released: 17th October 2018
Label: Darkroom/Interscope Records

Video

Biography

California singer and dancer Billie Eilish debuted her ethereal indie electro-pop sound when she was barely a teenager. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Eilish grew up in a household of actors and musicians, and was homeschooled along with her brother Finneas O'Connell (the Slightlys). At the age of eight, she joined the Los Angeles Children's Choir, developing the soulful vocals that would later appear on her early singles. After the release of "Six Feet Under" and "Fingers Crossed," Eilish made her breakthrough with "Ocean Eyes," produced and co-written with her brother Finneas and released by Interscope. It surpassed 14 million online streams and spawned a number of remixes with Astronomyy, Blackbear, and Goldhouse. Eilish followed up in February 2017 with "Bellyache," then landed another track, "Bored," on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. An EP, dont smile at me, featuring the singles "COPYCAT" and "watch," followed later that summer. - iTunes

Biography

Lil Peep
Gustav Elijah Åhr (November 1, 1996 – November 15, 2017), known professionally as Lil Peep, was an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He was known for being part of a "post-emo revival style of hip-hop". AllMusic described his music as a blend of hip hop and rock influences along with trap, punk, and dream pop. Peep's music contains lyrical themes regarding topics such as depression, drug use, past relationships, and suicidal thoughts. He had been described as the future of emo by Steven J. Horowitz of online magazine Pitchfork.

Peep announced his debut album, Come Over When You're Sober, via Instagram. The album was given the release date of August 11, 2017. After a slight delay, the album was released on August 15, 2017. Following the release of Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1, the album debuted in only one country, the Czech Republic on August 22, 2017. Following Lil Peep's death, Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1 entered the Billboard 200 at No. 168 and sold 16,000 album-equivalent units the following week, peaking at No. 38.

Åhr died on November 15, 2017, from what is believed to have been an accidental Fentanyl-Xanax overdose.

XXXTENTACION
Rapper XXXTENTACION—born Jahseh Onfroy—mounted his career with a stream of self-released singles and mixtapes before catapulting into the mainstream in 2017 with 17 and the chart-topping ?, the latter released months before his death. The South Florida native’s volatile approach made him one of the leading figures in so-called SoundCloud rap, combining the hollowed-out sound of trap with the vulnerability of emo and folk, exploring depression and self-loathing with a frankness almost unheard of in rap (or any other genre, for that matter). At his most captivating (“Look At Me!,” “SAD!”) Onfroy seemed to swing between numbness and violence, between feeling everything and feeling nothing at all—an uneasy dichotomy that resonated especially with younger fans desperate for an emotional outlet. A starkly controversial figure (? was recorded on house arrest while he awaited trial for aggravated battery of a pregnant woman), Onfroy also seemed to speak from experience, a boundary-blurring artist who, for better and worse, lived his art: He was shot and killed in June 2018, at the age of 20. - iTunes
