It's been eight years since Rihanna unleashed her trashy electro-bop album 'Loud'! It's arguably her most commercially successful album to-date, scoring three consecutive #1 singles in the US and two #1 singles in the UK. It's also one of Rihanna's most iconic looks, serving bright red weaves in all of the album's music videos.

Despite its short tracklist, seven of the songs were released as singles, including two of her biggest bangers "Only Girl (In the World)" and "S&M". Overall the album covers a wide range of genres, including reggae on "Man Down" and trance on "Complicated". There are also a couple of ballads present, including one of her most divisive songs "California King Bed" and an alternative version of her biggest ever single, "Love the Way You Lie" with Eminem.

The record also marks Rihanna's first collaboration with both Drake and Nicki Minaj on "What's My Name?" and "Raining Men" respectively.

The album became her second #1 in the UK and has been certified 6x Platinum, selling over 2 million copies. It became her fifth consecutive top 10 album in the US and has been certified 3x Platinum there.

Tracklist:

1. S&M
2. What's My Name? (feat. Drake)
3. Cheers (Drink to That)
4. Fading
5. Only Girl (In the World)
6. California King Bed
7. Man Down
8. Raining Men (feat. Nicki Minaj)
9. Complicated
10. Skin
11. Love the Way You Lie (Part II) (feat. Eminem)

How do you feel about the album now? Which tracks/singles do you go back to most?

Personally, I don't love this as much as I did at the time and I rarely re-visit it. "Only Girl (In the World)" is my favourite track, despite disliking it at the time it's proved to be a big grower over the years. I do appreciate how she was literally everywhere during promotion for this though and I wish she would still do all-out promo for her music nowadays sad.gif

Man Down should've been a huge smash - still one of her best!

For me it's very much an album of singles and album tracks, although the album tracks are nice enough it's a clear divide.

I feel like all the singles have their place, except 'California King Bed' which is drab and 'Cheers' is forgettable/deservedly forgotten.
