Top 40 Commentary

Headhunterz & Sound Rush are #1 for a second week with my current BJSC entry 'Rescue Me', holding Calvin Harris at #2 again with 'Giant' whilst Gareth Emery spends a third week at #3 with 'Take Everything'. Arty leaps to #4 with latest single 'Save Me Tonight' on its second week, giving him his 8th top 10 hit and 4th top 5 hit. It is his third-highest peaking single, behind 'It's All Relative' (#3, 2013) and 'RIOT' (#1, 2013), although his biggest seller to date is 'Perfect Strangers' (#6, 2018) which is still in the top 40 this week at #25. The mystery BJSC 112 entry slips a place to #5.

Also entering the top 10 are Bali Bandits with 'Lucky Chances', which climbs 5 places to #10. It is their first hit and also the 14th hit for featured artist KSHMR (who scores his 8th top 10 hit this week). Future top 10 contenders come from Lika Morgan, up to #11 with 'In Motion', and Denis Kenzo who leaps to #13 with 'Walking Away'. Above & Beyond also climb into the top 20 at #18 with 'Flying By Candlelight'

It's a fairly quiet week though we still have some movement and new entries. The first of these is however only a new entry on a technicality. Two years ago 'Saving Light' by Gareth Emery, Standerwick & HALIENE was released, and it entered straight in at #1 once I had discovered it a few weeks after its release. It went on to spend 5 weeks at #1, pass a million chart units and also win BJSC for me. HALIENE has now recorded a new version of the song, subtitled 'Acoustic', which enters at #19 this week and becomes her 6th top 40 hit. Neither Emery or Standerwick are credited on this new version (otherwise it would have counted as a re-entry), and indeed it becomes HALIENE's first solo hit.

It is a good week for Gareth Emery though, as whilst he remains at #3 he gets another top 40 hit with 'Kingdom United', his 7th and also the 2nd for Ashley Wallbridge. The song jumps to #30 on its second week of release, and is the first single of Emery & Wallbridge's collab album of the same name.

Swedish duo NOTD get their first top 40 hit with 'So Close' in its 5th week on the overall chart, climbing to #38 this week. It is also the 8th top 40 hit for Felix Jaehn, having gone over 2 years without a hit - his last hit was 'Bonfire' (#4, 2016), and the first for featured artists Captain Cuts and Georgia Ku.

After spending a few weeks on the (non-existent) bubbling under chart, Axwell's 'Nobody Else' finally cracks the chart, and is a brand new entry at #39. It becomes his 5th top 40 hit outside of his group projects, and this becomes his 18th including Axwell /\ Ingrosso's 7 and Swedish House Mafia's 6.

Outside the top 40 new releases from Billie Eilish, Don Diablo, Markus Schulz and deadmau5 make the chart. Next week you can expect a few BJSC entries here as they become chart eligible (I would have to censor out about a tenth of my chart this week otherwise).
