The first edition was held in a dubiously European dictatorship and the second is similarly in the only country in Europe which isn't even close to a democracy.
I'm all for including the east but hold the European Games somewhere relatively normal like Ukraine or Georgia or something. This post has been edited by Harve: 8th June 2019, 04:24 PM |

I'm all for including the east but hold the European Games somewhere relatively normal like Ukraine or Georgia or something. The second edition was initially awarded to The Netherlands but they stepped down shortly after. Then it was awarded to Russia then removed due to the Russian doping scandals. Minsk, who was initally meant to host the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival, was a last-resort solution. Krakow in Poland is the only bidding city for the third edition in 2023. I didn't even know European Games existed until now but the Sports that are used are probably the sports that I follow on TV most of the time bar the Badminton, Gymnastics, Boxing, Wrestling and whatever Sambo is

Great Britain won team pursuit silver and three boxing medals to take their tally to 12 at the European Games.
Welsh duo Meg Barker and Jess Roberts and former Irish rider Josie Knight lost the pursuit final to Italy. But six-time Olympic champion Jason Kenny failed to qualify for the sprint quarter-finals in Minsk, Belarus. Cheavon Clarke, Luke McCormack and Peter McGrail took boxing bronze while Lauren Price will fight for -75kg gold after beating Darima Sandakova. |
