It's a fourth week on top for the haunting Agnes track, not only holding off one of my all-time fave records at 2, but getting the longest run on top for a year, and still am I obsessed by it, and in a similar way the Paul Kalkbrenner track at 3 has insistent beats with a subtle brilliant melody over the top of it. I want to dance! Highest new entry is Lene Lovic's Bird Song which topped my chart in 1979 during my final year at uni - it wasn't a big hit, and it rapidly disappeared into obscurity, but I still love it's gothic New Wave wackiness.

Taylor Swift has a new album and I've cherry-picked the best 2 tracks to enter at 9 (London Boy, she's in love and the lyrics are charmingly fab, yay!) and 11 (Cruel Summer, but the Bananarama song), both of which are better than the first 2 singles - which were good, but not quite as good. Springsteen gets a second top 10 of the year, Swifty gets her 6th top 10 in total. Keane gets a second consecutive top 40, and Emeli Sande gets a top 40 with Nana Rogues' I Don't Know, which is better than her 2 solo tracks this year which peaked lower down.

Walk Off The Earth return with a 6th chart entry over 7 years, 5 Seconds Of Summer also return, Sufjan Stevens belatedly follows up his chart-topper from the same film with Visions Of Gideon, 13 years since his debut chart entry, his 4th in total. Cedric Gervais returns with a cover of the 1986 Farley Jackmaster Funk track, the same week as Lana Del Ray has a 4th chart entry of 2019 - they previously topped my chart with Summertime Sadness together 6 years ago and Lana is currently on her 26th chart entry in 7 years.

OMD are also back with a new track promoting an expensive package collection, and which also sounds like it could have been made in 1980 - the year they debuted and topped my chart with Messages. I've lost count of the number of hits until I get the mid-90's digitised onto spreadsheets - and that applies to Springsteen too, who enters at 85 in my expanded countdown - yet again too many great new records to fit into the already-expanded chart - with his version of the song Patti Smith took into my top 5 in my 1st year at Uni: they wrote it together, she had the single hit, Bruce didn't release it as a single, but it's in the new Blinded By The Light movie.

Other returning veterans: Maxi Priest, last seen in 2014, with Shaggy (who's been back recently with Sting), Maxi debuting in 1986 and Shaggy in 1993 originally; Simply Red, first charted in 1985, and more recently in 2015; Kathy Sledge, of Sister Sledge fame, first charted in 1975, and have consistently charted each decade with Chic-tastic oldies, but not much new since the 80's, so this is a bonus. It intentionally sounds disco-era though, so I'm not entirely sure it isn't...!
