After all that and the potential massacre that was going to happen, we have a clean tie break this round!

Eliminated

23. Up & Up (11/34 votes, 11%)

The only one that went out cleanly initially is one I didn't expect going by previous rounds and I'm really very sad about this. Up & Up was the third single released from A Head Full of Dreams and features a choir of nearly all the previous stars Coldplay have collaborated with, including Beyonce, Brian Eno and Noel Gallagher performing the second guitar solo. It didn't make much chart impact, but it's most memorable for it's wonderful video which I think is their best ever, featuring some excellent surrealist imagery and seamless editing, it's a wonder. It's a wonderful song too, a classic hopeful anthem that is so rousing and captivating in its build. Not happy about this one.

22. Christmas Lights (10/34 votes, 10%) (19/28 votes in Tiebreak)

Going out first in the tiebreak is a one-off release Coldplay's attempt at a modern Christmas song which has actually endured quite well in those stakes over the years, with cover art by Yu Matsuoka Pol and a music video featuring one hundred of the band's fans. Wikipedia hasn't got much trivia here sorry, but a lovely song (even if it does have the disadvantage of me not listening to it every month of the year like their other songs kink.gif)

21. Charlie Brown (10/34 votes, 10%) (18/28 votes in Tiebreak)

Narrowly joining it is the third single released from Mylo Xyloto, called after the classic Peanuts character due to his name appearing in an early draft of the song that didn't make the final cut, but the name stuck as they simply preferred it to the alternative (which was Cartoon Heart, which is mentioned in the lyrics), it was also written in Chris' daughter's dollhouse, which was converted into a studio when she revealed she didn't like it, harsh x It charted in the top 30 of the UK in early 2012, though it was overshadowed coming in between two very big hits from that album. I was perhaps a little harsh on this voting for it this early, it sounded amazing live and it is better than I remember it, but they've just done this sound better before and it always paled next to the far superior Hurts Like Heaven and Major Minus from the same album which I'm gutted weren't released/released too late.

21. Charlie Brown (10/34 votes, 10%) (18/28 votes in tiebreak)
22. Christmas Lights (10/34 votes, 10%) (19/28 votes in tiebreak)
23. Up&Up (11/34, 11%)
24. Shiver (7/31, 9.59%) (Less votes in previous rounds)
25. Lost! (7/31, 9.59%)
26. Everglow (13/31, 17.81%)
27. Life in Technicolor II (9/32, 14.06%)
28. Atlas (12/32, 18.75%)
29. Something Just Like This (w/ The Chainsmokers) (9/29, 14.06%)
30. Miracles (Someone Special) (w/ Big Sean) (11/29, 17.19%)

We are now in the top 20 so it will be all single eliminations with slightly shorter rounds so please vote for ONE of the above list. You have until Friday evening.

Hopefully you guys are more decisive this time! God Put a Smile... proving quite the survivor

I’m annoyed Hymn for the Weekend survived that massacre when it was leading initially pirate.gif targeting that until it goes

Pssht. I know it'd probably have been out soon anyway if it was in this predicament but 'Charlie Brown' missing the top 20 sucks. That'd be one of the songs I'd be most looking forward to if I ever have the opportunity to see them live.

(it's also too early for 'Up&Up' to be out but that's less unexpected considering it wasn't a hit at all, I kinda forgot it was even a single, I just remember really liking it as an album track)

Going for 'Hymn For The Weekend' now anyways.

Orphans - although my current personal chart number 1, I haven’t loved it as long as the other songs.

Really sad to see ‘Up and Up’ leave. My favourite single from the AHFOD era.

Voted God Put A Smile.... this time

I'll just voice support for God Put A Smile Upon My Face as genuinely one of my favourites, but I'm surprised it's lasted this long laugh.gif Having just 1 vote means more concentrated focus for me on getting rid of the one especially weak link in A Sky Full Of Stars

Same feelings as Bré re: Charlie Brown, I’d go so far as to call it one of their best, certainly one of their greatest sounding instrumental drops. Shame it’s gone out so soon.

Yes at God Put surviving that thanks to me late input, happy with all 3 of those that left.

Looks like I'll be on my own voting for Adventure... for a good while now.

Charlie Brown and Up&Up both deserved so much better. Charlie Brown is my all time fav Coldplay song much thanks to the Dave Audé remix and Up&Up has such a beautiful video that it's hard not to love the song. Voted for Viva La Vida which is easily their by far most overrated.
