I’m deliberating moving to another music platform from 2020 but I can’t decide which.

I’ve been an Apple Music subscriber at £9.99 a month for a long time now, and one of the main reasons was to merge my existing music library with the downloadable content from the streaming service. I like the feel of the platform and the experience has been positive overall apart from not being able to scrobble streamed music to last.fm. So my stats have been incorrect for many years now.

Prior to this I was a Spotify subscriber for a long time, and I found it more engaging especially when I wanted to follow friends playlists and share or collaborate on playlists. I also like the look and feel of the platform too, though the free version has too many ads. As a subscriber this wouldn’t have been an issue before. I would be willing to pay the subscription fee again if I made this my main streaming service.

I may return to using Spotify again, but I don’t want to rule out other options in a world of growing trends and new music platforms and so I may opt for something new that I’ve never tried before. That’s why I’d like to hear from the BuzzJack community as to what streaming services you would recommend and why.

100% Spotify. I wish a few of Apple’s features would make their way onto Spotify like numbered playlists and visible playcount but overall Spotify is much better for me.

I've swapped to Amazon recently (but still making use of Spotify for a couple of weeks until my subscription ends) as I already pay £7.99 for Prime anyway and you get a decent amount of music included in that (and TV and free delivery #win). You can pay an additional £9.99 for the Unlimited but in all honesty, I've managed to put together a playlist of songs I'm into right now without running into a stumbling block of a track not being available but it does and will happen unless you upgrade. However, from a money saving perspective (as I have A LOT of streaming services) I'm pleased with the switch so far.

Amazon also seem to be on it right now with the original exclusives and remixes.

I'm an Apple Music user and enjoy it just fine. I pay 9.99 per month.

There is no option for people who don’t stream at all like myself. I only download or buy CD and will never support streaming.

Can I ask why you don’t support streaming? One major benefit of streaming is that cd’s, cases etc contribute to plastic waste?

I don't download either. Only buy the occasional CD.

I pay £9.99 a month for Apple Music.

Personally for me I felt it had more to offer than what Spotify did which is why I switched around a year ago now but I would
consider switching if something else come up what I felt had benefits. But at the moment I’m very happy with Apple.

Sorry about that, this thread was only meant to establish what the best platform is at the moment for streaming.

No worries. I know I'm old and odd. Most here do stream.

Because I like all my music on CDs. I’ve never supported streaming as I like to own my music. I just think it’s pointless.

but you can keep buying vinyls, CDs, whatever and stream too, they're not mutually exclusive

thats the good think about streaming, it allows you to investigate a lot of music and discover new music without having to buy it first

I'm on Spotify myself, been since day 1 when harry no one was using it... was talking with a friend now that has Deezer, cos he has it for free or something, but he was saying not all songs and albums are available, that there's much less relative to Spotify

I take it the Youtube Music option doesn't include video streaming? I generally stream music videos first on youtube, to count as little to the charts as possible, in case I don't like it, and then when/if I find I something I want to assist the chart performance of in a given week I'd then go to spotify to stream it, and/or itunes to download it.

Also how would people who use smart speakers vote here? My friend always asks Alexa for anything she wants to hear, so did she have to link Alexa to one of the listed streaming sites first for that to work, or does it count as a separate thing in and of itself? Just curious.

It suits me to use Apple rather than YouTube because of my listening habits as I listen to the majority of the music while I am travelling on the bus.

Thanks for so many votes in the poll, looks like Spotify is still way ahead in popularity and accessibility. Maybe Amazon Music will take off more in the future as more homes get Alexa and more exclusive music rights to certain songs.

With Apple Music, I really would like them to improve the user experience in one way by adding support for Last.fm scrobbling which only works for purchase or imported music at the moment.

Begs the question of how Ellie is top 10 if that is an example of the general publics division of streaming services.
