Girls Aloud were the absolute worst when it came to ballads, shockingly shit. Time Goes By, Mama, Oxygen, Weekend Love.....? Versatility has very little to do with mid-tempo/up-tempo. I am talking about versitility of style and experimentation. Girls Aloud did incredibly well with pop, rock, r'n'b, ska, raggie, even jazz. And they did really well at that. So did the Spice Girls. That's what I was saying. |

Girls Aloud were the absolute worst when it came to ballads, shockingly shit. Generally ballads were not Girls Aloud's strong point I agree... however Call the shots is incredible I could see the Spice Girls doing a great version of that song too. Also I'll stand by you is general girl band fodder, not a favourite of mine but a paint by numbers pop song. |

Mama is the one song that when they do it live it transcends. The build through the song to the choir ending and Mel B and Emma's ad libs is stunning.

TBH Mama is a pretty terrible song, that comes out better when sang live. But it's similar to Headlines - a cringe fest, not really a proud moment in their discography. Personally, I would LOVE IT if they could just not do Mama anymore on their live shows and do another uptempo instead. They always leave Mama to the end and it always ruins it lol |

I am not complaining about the rest, just that Mama could totally go now... Also, isnt it always so weird that Mel C is the only one that doesnt bring a child on stage? Just let it go girls, honestly... |

I think the chances of them ever ditching Mama are zero.
It's a Spice Girl classic and they all seem to love performing it. |

I actually agree I'd drop it and use an uptempo album track or Step to me or even Walk of life instead. |

I think Mama near the end of a set list is right. It was a real hug your nearest and dearest moment of SW19 before Stop and Wannabe for the big party finish.

It was done *in between* Stop and Wannabe An ending with just stop and Wannabe would have been much better I think!! Again, fine, keep it. But dont do it AGAIN in the climatic bit in the end of the show... |

I think SW19 is the first time they truly got Wannabe right live. It had the energy, fireworks, costumes, sing-a-long euphoric ending it deserved.

I love the 2019 Something Kinda Funny performances. Simple with lots of chemistry shining through. What the Spice Girls were about in one performance.
