After Taylor has given us the iconic love triangle three-way songs on folklore, this weekend coming to the Taylor forum is the three-way poll series! This will consist of:

1) Favourite opening track on Taylor's albums
2) Favourite lead single song + lead single video
3) Best album closer

So here we are starting with the favourite opening track, I've not linked the songs on here but there all on Spotify for y'all to listen to! <3
(yes we have two songs competing in two of the polls)

I hope y'all enjoy, and let alone just voting also comment and discuss!! did each album have the perfect opener for you? would you replace any of these songs with different album openers?

The first poll is your favourite track. However I decided to add a second poll, which is what one of these is the most effective as an album opener for you?

Taylor's Opening Tracks:
Tim McGraw from Taylor Swift
Fearless from Fearless
Mine from Speak Now
State of Grace from Red
Welcome to New York from 1989
Ready For It from Reputation
I Forgot That You Existed from Lover
The 1 from folklore

My favourites:
1. Mine
2. State of Grace

3. Ready For It

4. the 1
5. Welcome to New York
6. Fearless

7. Tim McGraw
8. I Forgot That You Existed

an easy #1 for Mine which is in my top 5 Taylor songs of all time, such a wonderful gem of a track heart.gif State of Grace is one of my favourite Taylor album tracks of all time, the way that song progresses is amazing heart.gif a runaway top 2!

RFI is a runaway 3rd, such a banger that I still return to so much!

the 1 can go into category 3 ftm but I think it'll def progress up and could overtake RFI for me in time. Welcome To New York & Fearless are basically joint for me, I enjoy the former more (a slice of pop fun) but if I'm in a nostalgic mood the latter is perfect (and damn I will scream that chorus at the top of my lungs

Tim McGraw is fabulous but yeah, isn't a standout in her discography. And I Forgot That You Existed is a fine bop but def in the lower section of her discography

Now on the other hand I think 7 of them are perfect openers. And putting this into perspective with my favourites post, the one that shouldn't have opened the album is...

Mine

ohmy.gif

Sparks Fly works SO much better as an opener, which is exemplified by its fabulous and perfect atmospheric building as the opener on the Speak Now tour! It just has that punch of an album opener and I lowkey forget it wasn't.

onto the other 7 -> here's my ranking of them as least effective openers to most effective openers (obvs I agree all 7 were the perfect choices for album opener, she's really good at picking them!)

Welcome to New York - sets the mood that this is gonna be a carefree fun pop album. (tho low-key I wouldn't mind New Romantics opening the album)
Fearless - sets the mood perfectly and we love a title track opener
I Forgot That You Existed - if this has to exist, it's best placing is the opening track and I do like it's placement signifying as a transition from the rep era to the lover era
the 1 - it really gets you hooked into the album and is so memorable as an opener
Tim McGraw - its the introduction to her career so it being the opener on her first album, it just had to be.

I'm actually struggling to choose between State of Grace and Ready For It as openers cos both are so perfect. I'm gonna go for SOG cos I'm veering closer to that and also cos RFI will probs steamroll this poll! Ready For It is such a bombastic opener that really gets you ready for the album. DBM as an opener would've also been epic tho. State of Grace sets the atmosphere of Red PERFECTLY and is such an enthralling opener with its progression from instrumentals to the verses to the chorus to the atypical song structure. what an opener <3
