Not the most exciting of weeks to take over the playlist but nice adds for James Bay (finally), Sam Smith, Camelphat/Yannis & Declan McKenna and cool rises for Another Sky, Fontaines DC (Due to their album success) and Glass Animals on album release week.

No real A-List surprises but surprised Pop Smoke was removed considering what a success the album and singles have been, maybe they are moving to single 2?

Why add Anne-Marie to the A-List when it seems pretty clear it won’t be a hit yet Kings and Queens never gets above B List

They still seem to be strongly supporting Anne Marie hence her addition straight to the B-List for both her new songs this year while I don't get the shun for 'Kings & Queens' its late addition to the playlist as a whole seems to be due to the popularity of the song in the chart?

I think how they feel about Ava Max is the same as how they feel about Jason Derulo. The songs are both doing well commercially (More so the Jason track) but they don’t value the artists or see them as too derivative to move them up to the coveted A-List.

Yeh I can kind of understand that with the Jason song as it is a bit like a novelty record but 'Kings & Queens' is similar to Lady Gaga and other songs like it. So it's strange but being on the B-List for quite a while means it can get maybe 20 spins a week at its peak sonits getting decent plays.

This is only the second song she's released this year unless I've missed something? (The other one, 'Rose Rouge', was for a jazz cover compilation but this one will presumably be on a new album of her own (maybe still the same era as 'Be Honest' unless that's just being left as a non-album single)).

Not sure if Calvins name was removed from the Love Generator credit or it was added. It was just down as 'Love Generator x Steve Lacey' this week and had moved down the A-List due to the alphabetical ordering.

Thanks for posting the playlist this week Steve, much appreciated.

Glad they've finally added James Bay, for me it's his best single to date and I was worried they were going to stop supporting him. Glad to see Declan on there too although I'm not crazy about the song - I was hoping he'd have gone with 'Be An Astronaut' as the single instead. Also this is the first Yungblud song I've properly liked so glad to see that on there too biggrin.gif

Ah, I actually did somehow miss 'Kiss Me In The Morning' entirely (so thanks for alerting me to its existence lol) - having looked that up it was just for a Netflix series soundtrack.

Though after Googling it as well it turns out 'By Any Means' is actually also just a song for a various artists compilation ('Reprise', a social justice themed album from Roc Nation) so I guess we are still waiting for news on a new Jorja Smith album.
