20th September 2020
It's Miley Cyrus on top for a 4th week, still ruling with one of the best pop singles of the year, and holding off a fab track from Jessi. St Lucia get a first top 10, McFly grab only the 2nd top 10 of their career with the joyful Happiness, it only took 7 years for their first, and 9 years for their second, so roll on 2031 then. Groove Armada have taken even longer - 13 years since their last top 10, and 21 years since the first, averaging one a decade. See them also in the 2030's! In at 14, highest new entry is from Sophie Ellis-Bextor in a case of sweet revenge, as I was starting my clubbing days in 2001 and she was topping my charts for 3 weeks before getting kicked off by Alcazar's Crying At The Discotheque. So she's covered it, very nicely, giving her a first top 20 in 10 years. Timbaland guests on Bruno Martini's Bend The Knee to get his first top 20 since topping my chart in 2010 with Nelly Furtado on Morning After Dark, while Calvin Harris gets his first top 20 in 2 years, in what is a long list of at least 12. As Bon Jovi go top 40 with the Covid-19 upbeat Do What You Can, their most relevant song in 20 years, Sheryl Crow also jumps on board with the more general-themed anti-Trump song In The End at 70, it's biting searing lyrics telling it like it is and extending her chart relevance to 26 years. Meanwhile Saara Alto & Drag Race pal Baga Chipz shoot into the 40, giving Saara a 2nd top 40 two years on from her Finland Eurovision chart-topper Monsters, as Ava Max gets an Ace-Of-Base-ish 3rd top 40. Roisin Murphy enters at 60 with Something More, the latest in her line of recent charting dance tracks 22 years on from Moloko days, Paloma Faith makes a big ballad return hoping for a 6th chart-topper in 11 years and a 3rd decade, Better Than This at 68, while another former Eurovision act is back at 73 as Dami Im gets a 3rd 4 years from her Aussie top 3 Sound Of Silence, with Paper Dragon. Aimee Mann returns with a classy, haunting TV theme song, Avalanche, giving her a first appearance in 26 years, and 35 years since she first turned up in the band Til Tuesday. Charlie Puth is a serial guest vocalist this year, this week with Gabby Barrett, and Keith Urban keeps the run of chart entries going rapidly, each before the previous one drops out, this time with P!nk on tow - 21 years since she debuted. Sam Smith drops a first solo non-collab, non-cover, non-whiney track in 5 years with Diamonds in at 83 - it's a gem, arf! Finally Lady Gaga dials 911 and sneaks in at the bottom end. 1 1 1 6 MIDNIGHT SKY Miley Cyrus 812600 2 6 2 3 NUMB Jessi 189250 3 2 1 4 ALL THE STARS Kendrick Lamar, SZA 485000 4 5 2 6 GHOSTKEEPER Klangkarussell & GIVVEN 495000 5 4 4 5 TICK TOCK Clean Bandit & Mabel featuring 24kGoldn 218600 6 7 6 3 SECONDS (ELECTRIC LADY SESSIONS) LCD Soundsystem 124000 7 8 7 4 ELECTRIC LOVE BORNS 177000 8 13 8 5 CHINA SHOP St. Lucia 114450 9 12 9 8 HAPPINESS McFly 182300 10 14 10 3 LOVER 4 NOW Groove Armada featuring Todd Edwards 89400 11 9 1 9 SAY SOMETHING Kylie Minogue 782000 12 10 1 7 FREAK Doja Cat featuring Paul Anka 502000 13 11 8 6 BREATHE DEEPER Tame Impala 167500 14 NEW 14 1 CRYING AT THE DISCOTHEQUE Sophie Ellis-Bextor 29000 15 3 3 3 OF COURSE I’M LYING Yello 133000 16 23 16 6 BLUEBIRD Miranda Lambert 99400 17 18 17 3 THELMA AND LOUISE Anna Bergendahl 63300 18 19 18 8 TO SPEAK IS A SIN Pet Shop Boys 139150 19 28 19 5 BEND THE KNEE Bruno Martini, IZA & Timbaland 76000 20 36 20 4 OVER NOW Calvin Harris, The Weeknd 51900 21 15 10 7 AIR I BREATHE Sub Focus featuring Wilkinson 144450 22 16 5 11 AND IT BREAKS MY HEART LEON 388200 23 30 23 7 REAL LOVE SONG Nothing But Thieves 100650 24 27 24 7 A LITTLE RESPECT Erasure 124400 25 17 9 9 DANGEROUS LOVE Tiwa Savage 231050 26 45 26 4 DO WHAT YOU CAN Bon Jovi 39400 27 32 27 5 BABY IT’S YOU London Grammar 60700 28 20 10 8 MY FUTURE Billie Eilish 206550 29 21 1 8 RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED FROM Maxine Nightingale 487950 30 33 30 12 ORDINARY WORLD Duran Duran 170800 31 34 31 5 TRAVEL BACK IN TIME Little Jinder’s Unreleased Romance & Little Jinder 68000 32 22 4 8 SUGAR MAN (THE GOLDFISH MIX) Rodriguez 342300 33 24 18 10 THIS FEELING Faithless featuring Suli Breaks and Nathan Ball 162400 34 38 34 8 SUNDOWN Gordon Lightfoot 116350 35 31 10 10 SUN IS SHINING Bob Marley Featuring Robin Schulz 239450 36 26 9 12 I USED TO BE COOL Bright Light Bright Light 259400 37 39 37 3 THIS FLIGHT TONIGHT Nazereth 46700 38 81 38 2 WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN Saara Aalto & Baga Chipz 21000 39 48 39 6 LOVE AND AFFECTION Joan Armatrading 53500 40 53 40 5 WHO’S LAUGHING NOW Ava Max 52450 41 54 41 5 TAKE YOU DANCING Jason Derulo 44200 42 29 7 8 GRAND ILLUSION (LE FLEX POOLSIDE MIX) Donna Summer 215450 43 25 7 8 ONE AND ONE MAKE FIVE Pet Shop Boys 220700 44 49 44 5 SAILING The Sutherland Brothers 47350 45 40 40 5 60’S WORLD Marty Wilde featuring Kim Wilde 46800 46 60 46 4 NERVES OF STEEL Erasure 27150 47 52 47 3 MAJOR TOM (COMING HOME) Peter Schilling 30600 48 67 48 3 MAYBE LOVE IS IN NYC Pretenders 20800 49 35 18 10 WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT Kygo & Tina Turner 166000 50 55 50 4 SAME THINGS Georgia Lines 27400 51 43 4 11 SALAMANDER STREET Callum Beattie 359200 52 57 52 5 THING Edwina Biglet & The Miglets 38900 53 37 30 7 SUPERMAN Keith Urban 94350 54 42 3 14 HALLUCINOGENICS (SEEB REMIX) Matt Maeson 392550 55 46 33 8 IN AND OUT OF LOVE Melanie C 97700 56 78 56 2 WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS Steps 15000 57 62 57 5 DYNAMITE BTS 29400 58 63 58 5 THE PIE The Sutherland Brothers 33000 59 71 59 3 LEGENDS NEVER DIE Orville Peck & Shania Twain 17500 60 NEW 60 1 SOMETHING MORE (EDIT) Roisin Murphy 10000 61 69 61 5 DOESN’T MATTER Gallant 23400 62 65 62 5 FINGERS CROSSED Agnes 24800 63 58 1 19 IN YOUR EYES Robin Schulz featuring Alida 972250 64 72 64 5 DREAM KID The Sutherland Brothers & Quiver 21300 65 59 1 13 WATERMELON SUGAR Harry Styles 619200 66 77 66 3 CRAZY DAYS The Shires 13600 67 75 67 3 TONIGHT I RUN Astraea 13100 68 NEW 68 1 BETTER THAN THIS Paloma Faith 6400 69 41 25 6 TO BE YOUNG Anne-Marie featuring Doja Cat 78050 70 NEW 70 1 IN THE END Sheryl Crow 6000 71 44 17 8 MARRIED IN VEGAS The Vamps 117350 72 89 72 2 STRANGE DAYS The Struts & Robbie Williams 7800 73 NEW 73 1 PAPER DRAGON Dami Im 5400 74 90 74 2 FROM CLOUDY BAY TO MALIBU Nik Kershaw 7200 75 84 75 2 THE ONLY THING Travis featuring Susanna Hoffs 8200 76 76 76 3 LOADED Primal Scream 13000 77 47 47 6 WILL YOU RETURN/WHEN YOU COME DOWN The Flaming Lips featuring Particle Kid 49300 78 80 78 4 HYGIENE STRIP Dubstar 12100 79 NEW 79 1 AVALANCHE Aimee Mann 4200 80 85 80 3 RADAR LOVE Golden Earring 8400 81 NEW 81 1 I HOPE Gabby Barrett featuring Charlie Puth 3800 82 NEW 82 1 ONE TOO MANY Keith Urban & P!nk 3600 83 NEW 83 1 DIAMONDS Sam Smith 3400 84 87 84 3 WHAT’S YOUR PLEASURE? I see China Shop in that top 10 after no Singerpurear points! Did it grow on you in the end? Also good to see Electric Love in the top 10 which was also a former Klum entry from back in 2015. Loving Midnight Sky, Ghostkeeper and Tick Tock too. How come All The Stars is doing it for you nowadays?? Shall have to check out that new Sophie Ellis-Bextor track too - cracking title!

Hi Klumzee, yes if I could turn back time St Lucia would be in the top 5 slots.... I think it just got evicted from the points in the final shuffle but it was always a candidate, then I played it again after seeing AH Gold loving it so much and it suddenly clicked big time, so I bought it and have been playing it since. Hope the love for BORNS makes up for it, I charted that one first-time round too The moral is clear: "Kluminican Republic tracks Grow On You" - official, and it might take 5 years before the world catches up! Stick it down as the nation motto.... All The Stars is a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, as he so dominates my images of that track and great film. It's also one of my top tracks of that decade and it's moving higher up my Top 800 listings, so a bonus! |

Helloooooo
YOUR #1!!! I can't deal with it. It's trash. Noooooo. I also feel like Tick Tock is all the way down bottom of the barrell when it comes to their collabs. I hate myself 😂 Say something, is something I love though. What a bop! I was really not on board with anything from her two most recent albums, so it's nice to see her hey back to doing my fave kinda stuff from her. Ugh Hallucinate dropping out, just as I'm about to start chatting it soon 😂😂 Nice chart! |

Hi John!
Nice to see "Midnight Sky" at #1, as well as the big gains for "Over Now", "Who's Laughing Now", "Take You Dancing" and "Strange Days" and the debuts for "One Too Many", "Diamonds" and "911"! Great chart! |
