Another poll here, just like the 'EY' one, but this time its Kylie's 11th studio album "Aphrodite", which came out 10 years ago now & gave Kylie another chart topping album, making her the first artist to have #1's in 4 decades. The album earned rave reviews & several of the tracks quickly became firm fan faves.

The singles run was planned & set in motion, but things changed when the 2nd single didn't became the chart smash as hoped, which caused a complete overhaul by releasing 'BTT' 3rd, which again didn't fare well & kinda stopped everything dead in its tracks. Only if they'd just stuck to their guns & kept the original line-up, which in my opinion could have been amazing, but what do u guys think?

Official Run:
All The Lovers
Get Outta My Way
Better Than Today
Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)

Original/Scrapped Run:
All The Lovers
Get Outta My Way
Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)
Cupid Boy
Can't Beat The Feeling

"Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)" - was originally considered as the lead single for Aphrodite, but it was ultimately decided to go with "All the Lovers"; it was then planned to be the follow-up to "Get Outta My Way", but was moved to the fourth single when A&R became obsessed with "Better Than Today". The under-performance of "Better Than Today" then led to shut down of all further plans for the album, Even though it did eventually get released, it was very much scaled down in limited formats with next to nothing promo.

"Cupid Boy" - was initially planned to be the fourth single released from Aphrodite, fifth after "Better Than Today" was chosen for release, with already commissioned remixes; it was waiting for it's turn, but when "Better Than Today" didn't do as expected, it was frozen with all the other upcoming plans for the album.

"Can't Beat The Feeling" - Was in line to be the album's 5th possible single, however yet again with the underperformance of the previous singles, all plans were frozen with remixes known to exist, which in turn were also scrapped.

Probably the planned run, im one of the few that does actually like better than today but as single it didnt really work, i still think get outta my way was not the best choice for 2nd single and it lost the momentum on the album but maybe it would have been the same no matter what was second single although i do kinda think cupid boy would have been a good 2nd single.

'The Planned Run', of course. "Get Outta My Way" was the obvious choice as the 2nd single, it was what everybody at the time & even now wanted. Doubt anything else would have done any better. "Put Your Hands Up" could have easily been another top 20 hit if released as the 3rd single, given the promo that 'BTT' had (X-Factor, Children In Need & Royal Variety) (totally wasted on it), this could have easily been far better received, especially with a music video to boot.

Why the title track wasn't considered, that could have made a great 3rd single as-well. "Cupid Boy", even this could have worked as single #3 or even 4th, it offers another side of the album with its awesome rock/synth/dance sound, could have been another top 40 hit at the very least. "Can't Beat The Feeling", This would have probably been given a scaled back limited release like 'PYHU' did, again could have been another great choice & ended the era with a BANG!.

Put your hands up , if it got the same promo as better than today it would have done much better and probably would have got Kylie another top 20 hit.

I definitely think 'Put Your Hands Up' would have been a better 3rd single, but I don't know if there was much life in the album by then. This was the exact point she'd been dumped from the Radio 1 playlist.

Its strange she was dumped from radio at this time especially after the big success of all the lovers.

Planned run.
Better Than Today is a 2 Hearts, good album track but not single status.

Seems that planned run is the more popular choice, not surprising really. 'Better Than Today' should have just stayed on the album, although I do recall there being much of a total uproar when it was announced at the time, it was more of a REALL! WHY?. sort of reaction. Good album track bad single.

'PYHU' could have been a low top 20 hit #17-#19, given if it had the same promo as 'BTT' would have had.
'CB' - Probably been released in early 2011, around the same time 'Higher' was taking off, this could have went top 40.
'CBTF' - I'd see a limited release for this & top 75 or top 100 peak.

I really think they should have gone with the title track for the 3rd single, after all it felt like 'Better Than Today's entire release/campaign was centered around that X-Factor performance and that could have provided something more exciting and vivacous.
