Romy of The xx's debut solo single 'Lifetime' is out tomorrow at 6pm! So hyped for this (I'm hoping she'll go by "Romy xx")
 This is how Yahoo have described it: QUOTE “Lifetime” is a dance-y, no-frills track that begs you to stand up and move. It’s far different from what you would envision The XX would have offered, which makes it a delightful surprise. What stood out for me was the club-influenced pop beats and the drum synth that give the track its layers.
In some instances, the song is about romantic melancholy, as the honeyed-voice Croft calls out to someone – perhaps, a lover – to just “let it happen once in a lifetime.” I guess in some ways; the pandemic has forced us to look back and prioritise what’s important to us – the relationships with our family members, our loved ones, as countries around the world continue to shut borders, thus splitting families and couples apart. If you have this one lifetime, wouldn’t you want to take a chance upon something, someone and celebrate life? |

She was just billed as Romy when she featured on Jamie xx's 'Loud Places' so I would guess this will be the same. Excited to hear this anyway ~

This is excellent on first listen! I particularly like the bridge section but the whole thing is just super catchy.

this is nice!! it sounds like it'll grow. there's quite a lot of elements to take in on one listen so i think with more listens it'll settle!

I like it! Like Leww said there's quite a bit going on so I think it'll grow too which is always a good sign. I'm happy that it's a step in another direction for the xx members and makes me more excited for their 4th album! I like that there's lots of cool production going on but it's a pop song with a big chorus at heart

Oh this is excellent! Definitely a lot more pop than I was expecting and offers a nice departure to sort of justify the solo project.
