The entry window has closed, and I will be revealing the answers shortly.

Thank you to the 26 participants (one less than my last album chart quiz) who took the time to send me answers to this chart quiz, but was anyone able to correctly guess all album covers...

Stay tuned for the answers! biggrin.gif

As a reminder, points were allocated as follows;

10 points for correct artist and album.
or
5 points for correct artist (without album name)
or
5 points for correct album (without artist name)

and there were lots of ways to earn extra points including;

25 bonus points for correctly guessing the number of albums which peaked at #2 in the UK Albums Chart (this includes any album which failed to reach #1 but reached at peak at #2)

25 bonus points for correctly guessing the number of ‘Self-titled’ albums (this includes any album that features the artists name in full as part of the album title)

10 bonus points for correctly guessing which year is most represented in this quiz (this includes any album which had it’s UK release in that year)

10 bonus points for correctly guessing which album did not chart in the UK Albums Chart

1. Just Jack – Overtones
Release year: 2007 UK Chart Peak: #6 Self-Titled: No

Often considered a one hit wonder, but back in 2007 an English musician who went by the name of Just Jack came out of nowhere to score a #2 hit on the UK Singles Chart with Starz In Their Eyes. He went on to have three other UK Top 40 hits afterward, but no other chart success since 2009. Overtones was his second studio album and was certified Gold. The animated artwork seems to be a giant head of a man, in a metropolitan scene, surrounded by small alien figures seemingly escaping the man’s left ear.

2. Craig David – The Time Is Now
Release year: 2018 UK Chart Peak: #2 Self-Titled: No

The seventh and most recent studio album by Craig David was released in 2018 and reached a respectable peak of #2 in the UK Albums Chart, missing out to one of the soundtracks of the 21st Century for The Greatest Showman. Craig’s sustained popularity earned him two UK Top 40 singles from this album. The artwork features Craig in a white tracksuit contained within a large, spherical clock, lit up against a dark backdrop.

Oh wow what a flop Craig fan I am DeadBanana.gif Kicking myself now, especially as the circle theme extended to the artwork for the singles too.

3. Maroon 5 – V
Release year: 2014 UK Chart Peak: #4 Self-Titled: No

American band Maroon 5 had over a decade of mainstream success prior to the release of this, their fifth studio album aptly given the Roman numeral V for its title. The album spawned four UK Top 40 singles, with Maps and Sugar reaching the Top 10, later prompting the album to be certified Gold. The cover is of a large, red illuminated letter “V” at the edge of a lake with a hazed backdrop.

I knew Craig David’s straight off! But I’d have never gotten that Just Jack one. I did kinda know it wasn’t David Gray but I seem to guess him a lot on this site when it comes to quizzes like this one day he will actually appear laugh.gif

4. Will Young – Friday’s Child
Release year: 2003 UK Chart Peak: #1 Self-Titled: No

The first ever Pop Idol winner Will Young would go on to have a very successful music career as one of the finest talents manufactured from a reality show. His second studio album came out in December 2003 and went to the top of the UK Albums Chart, reaching a certification of 5X Platinum, making it his most successful album to date. It contained the UK Top 10 singles Leave Right Now, Your Game and Friday’s Child. The artwork shows Will seemingly jumping for joy next to a stone wall within an English meadow on a clear day.

5. Jennifer Lopez – J. Lo
Release year: 2001 UK Chart Peak: #2 Self-Titled: No

A bit of a curveball within this quiz due to the title of the album not quite qualifying as a self-titled album. J.Lo was the second studio album by Jennifer Lopez released in 2002. The album went 2X Platinum and was responsible for 4 Top 10 singles including the UK #1 Love Don’t Cost A Thing. The artwork is simply a breezy self portrait of the singer herself.

Correct Answers: 19 of 26 (73.08%)

A third of their hits came from this, their second studio album, including the UK #1 single Glad You Came. The album artwork shows the 5 members of the group stood in front of a mountainous landscape with a blazing red sky.
