Now that Ariana has officially been given a seventh UK #1, let's see how she does against other similarly big names! There's a mix of both classic and current names so it could get interesting.
Every performer with seven (no more, no less) UK #1s will go head-to-head to see which of these had the best. Here's each of their 3rd #1 hits.. Robbie Williams – Rock DJ [FAVE - cheesy classic, still love it today]
Justin Bieber – Love Yourself [one of the best slow songs of the decade] Tinie Tempah – R.I.P. [not that he does much on it but the song itself is one of Rita's best] Michael Jackson – I Just Can't Stop Loving You [not one of my faves of his but still better than most of this lot] Jess Glynne – Hold My Hand [also not one of her best but decent enough] Kylie Minogue – Hand on Your Heart [an improvement on the last 2 but still average] George Michael – I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) [it's alright, reminds me of terrible x factor performances of it though] Elton John – Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me [see above, joe mcelderry you're guilty] McFly – All About You [not good, pretty annoying] Ariana Grande – Thank U, Next [I didn't mind it at the time but now it's so dull and forgettable] U2 – Discothèque [deja vu, couldn't hum it] Sam Smith – Stay with Me [in no uncertain terms one my least favourite #1s of all time] Even worse list than before, were these artists really responsible for such below par chart-toppers? Thinking this might be the first time that my fave doesn't get through (and in fact the first time it might not win the poll) - although it is actually joint in the lead right now with 2 other songs so maybe it has a chance!
Said fave being 'Rock DJ', narrowly edging out 'Hold My Hand'. Feels very odd to think Ariana has already had 4 more #1 hits since 'thank u, next'! |

Going for 'Rock DJ'.
Not going for a full rank this time but Jess, George, Michael, Kylie, McFly and Elton from that list are all great too. I did like 'Stay With Me' for several months but I don't like anything of Sam's now really oops. |
