I have been a fan of a fair few Queen songs for many years but I have recently started checking out their back catalogue of albums! So far I have listened to Queen, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. Very much enjoying these albums so far and shocked at how instantly effervesent the music is! Excited to keep going with the albums and get to their even bigger ones! Thanks Maz for listening with me each week heart.gif

Favourite Queen song by FAR: Who Wants To Live Forever heart.gif

Enjoying my listen through of the albums with Haus every week. I am a massive Queen fan, watched a 2 hour documentary about Freddie today and still am emotional about it. What a show man and genius this man was and then seeing him getting iller every videoclip after 1986 is very sad.

Loved Queen from the moment I saw them play Seven Seas Of Rhye on Top Of The Pops, it sounded like nothing before. Bought that, Killer Queen, Bo Rap, all big chart-toppers for me. They got more hit and miss after that, but were great across their career. A Night At The Opera is my fave album of theirs, the most complete as a collection of varied songs.

Freddie Mercury was a brilliant showman and had an incredible voice. That was highlighted on the stunningly brilliant Barcelona with Montserrat Cabale. There are various clips floating around of his vocals (including Under Pressure) with no backing and no production effects which show just how great he was.

I can totally see why their music and performances were so popular but I must admit they do very little for me personally. I don't mind the occasional track but I've never been able to sit through their material for a whole album, not even their greatest hits.

I would agree with dandy*, the only ones you ever hear I generally find tolerable at best so have no desire to seek out more, and the really overplayed ones like We Are The Champions and Don't Stop Me Now I've really grown to loathe.

I listened to their album A Night at the Opera (AKA the BoRhap album) last year and I really did admire the creativity, uniqueness and unashamed spectacle of it all. It was actually surprising as the main radio staples like these days aren't anywhere near as adventurous and seems like they lost their uniqueness as they got more successful, certainly nothing that came after even compares to the genius that is Bohemian Rhapsody. I liked a lot of their later material, they were real anthems and Freddie Mercury was absolutely undeniable as a showman and vocalist, but I do find myself more interested in their earlier sounds.
