![]() ![]() Jorja Smith Addicted ![]() 2nd single from forthcoming studio album Released: 10th March 2021 Label: FAMM Video Biography Blending classical vocal artistry with beats inspired by modern R&B, reggae and hip-hop, Jorja Smith has risen to become one of Britain’s most exciting soul singers since her debut single, the searching, Dizzee Rascal-sampling “Blue Lights”, came out in 2016. Born in Walsall in 1997, Smith began studying music at an early age while listening to reggae, dub and soul music on her own, and her YouTube covers of hits by Alex Clare and Tinie Tempah garnered her notice from industry bigwigs. Smith’s second single, the glossy “Where Did I Go?”, was praised by Drake that July; a few months later, she released her debut EP, Project 11, and was named to the BBC’s Sound of 2017 long list. Drake invited Smith to tour with her and appear on his project More Life in 2017, and later that year she collaborated with American urbano star Kali Uchis on “Tyrant” and toured the world with Bruno Mars. Smith kicked off her 2018 with the BRIT Critics’ Choice Award, and soon after, she put out her debut full-length, Lost & Found, which showcased her defiantly honest songwriting, effortless genre-mixing and supple voice on tracks like the soulful “Wandering Romance” and the downtempo “On Your Own”. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2017 24 Get It Together (Drake feat. ![]() ![]() Machine Gun Kelly featuring CORPSE DAYWALKER! ![]() Non-album single Released: 12th March 2021 Label: Bad Boy / Interscope Records Video Biography In an interview with Apple Music about his 2019 album, Hotel Diablo, Machine Gun Kelly described the night he hit bottom. He was in the iamspamspamami his daughter asleep in the next room. “I just had no serotonin in my body left to give me any type of motivation or happiness,” he said. “I realise that I wanted all this”—his circumstance, his art, his life—“to go away.” He didn’t die that night. But he did write a song about trying to (“Glass House”). It’s not an easy listen—at one point, he passes out with blood dripping on the floor. But the same extremes that can make Kelly’s music unsettling have also made him a beacon for his fans, the kind of artist who shines light in the darkest corners of his mind. Born Richard Colson Baker in 1990, to missionary parents in Houston, Kelly was raised primarily in Cleveland, a city whose atmosphere of crime and post-industrial decay formed a backdrop for his tracks. Drugs, childhood trauma, self-negation: Kelly’s music never offers an easy way out. But as bleak as it can be, there’s a sense of catharsis to it, too, bridging the grit of hip-hop with the melodic quality of pop-punk and nu-metal—the spoonful of sugar that makes Kelly’s bitter pill go down. Is it rap? Is it rock? Nirvana, LINKIN PARK, or Eminem? To Kelly’s generation—including peers like Trippie Redd and the late Juice WRLD—the distinction is antiquated. They’re here for the feeling. Or at least the promise of letting the feeling out. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History Machine Gun Kelly 2016 16 Bad Things (Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello) -1- 2017 15 No More Sad Songs (Little Mix feat. Some close races to #1 in 2020, 2016 & 2006! Very happy that Roses grabbed a 'legit' week last year (thanks to higher video streams than BL). Orson still has the lowest combined sales for a #1, although in pure sales that record gets broken almost every week now. 2001 had the best and worst of times with the whole reality juggernaut kicking off, but I remember Mark Goodier saying that week the Top 5 sold over 1 million combined!

![]() Saweetie featuring Doja Cat Best Friend ![]() 3rd single from Pretty Bitch Music Released: 8th January 2021 Label: ICY / Warner Records Inc. Chart Statistics NE (21/01/2021) | 35-42-47-50-42-40-42-39-40-40 Sales: 70k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 56 Sales 62 Audio Streaming 08 Video Streaming Video Biography Inspired by similarly forthright rappers Lil' Kim, Trina, and Khia, as well as R&B artist Teedra Moses, Saweetie broke through with her gold-certified 2017 single "ICY GRL" and two years later scored a Top 40 pop hit with "My Type." Born in Santa Clara, Diamonté Harper grew up in and around the Bay Area, primarily in the city of Hayward. Though she aspired to be a rapper in early childhood, she excelled academically, earned a full-ride college scholarship, and obtained a degree after attending San Diego State and the University of Southern California. Harper's interest in music intensified once she got some attention for short performance clips uploaded to Instagram. One set of nonchalantly celebratory rhymes, delivered over the instrumental of Khia's 2002 hit "My Neck, My Back," developed into "ICY GRL," her debut as Saweetie. The official video for the track, uploaded in October 2017, went viral and notched millions of views, and led to a major-label deal with Warner Bros. Saweetie's first EP, High Maintenance, arrived in March 2018 and entered Billboard's R&B/hip-hop chart at number 32. Centerpiece "ICY GRL" was certified gold the following January. Almost exactly a year after the arrival of High Maintenance, the rapper returned with a second EP, ICY. Two tracks featured Quavo, but that August, the London on Da Track-produced solo cut "My Type" took Saweetie into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. A stand-alone track, "Tap In," arrived in June 2020. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Saweetie 2020 38 Tap In -1- 2021 35 Best Friend (feat. ![]() Dua Lipa featuring DaBaby Levitating ![]() 5th single from Future Nostalgia Released: 27th March 2020 / 13th August 2020 (Blessed Madonna remix) / 2nd October 2020 (DaBaby remix) Label: Dua Lipa Chart Statistics NE (20/08/2020) | 39-71-72-77-93-x RE (15/10/2020) | 30-22-13-14-13-10-10-5-7-20-23-73-68-5-9-11-12-15-34-32-37-38-43-39 Sales: 500k+ Certification: Gold Status: Accelerated Chart Ratio 02 Sales 11 Audio Streaming 20 Video Streaming Video Biography There’s purpose in Dua Lipa’s euphoric pop. “For me, it’s about championing women and putting ourselves in the position of power,” the singer told Apple Music in 2020, ahead of the release of her second album, Future Nostalgia. “I have been inspired by the female alphas that have shown me that we can do it. And that we can wear the pants, you know? We need more of that in music.” Forcing the world to get a little more comfortable with female alphas has been a mission statement for Lipa (born in London to Kosovar Albanian parents in 1995) since her 2017 self-titled debut. It housed the triumphant breakup smash “New Rules”, the self-love anthem “IDGAF” and the assured “Hotter Than Hell”—songs which made it clear that this was no ingénue, but rather an outspoken, effortlessly cool face of pop’s future. Indeed, that status was cemented a year later when Lipa made history as the first female solo artist to receive five BRIT Award nominations. She won two and, in 2019, added two Grammys to her mantelpiece. Despite the success of her debut, Lipa wasn’t interested in recreating its hits. “People always say, ‘The second album is really scary,’ but for me, it’s more scary to go back into the studio and try to create something like ‘New Rules’ or ‘IDGAF’ over and over again,” she said. “I feel like I’d end up in a vicious cycle of trying to get somewhere but never being able to mature as an artist.” And so, to move forward, she pivoted to the past, drawing on disco and funk—and filtering it through her ahead-of-its-time pop—to arrive at Future Nostalgia. Decadent and every bit as empowering as those early hits, it brought Lipa her first Mercury Prize nod, multiple Grammy nominations and a rightful place in pop’s upper echelons. And with it, too, came Lipa’s new purpose. Released just as the world went into lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis, Future Nostalgia became an urgent tonic for tough times—danced to in living rooms across the world. Yet Lipa wasn’t done there: Five months later, she unveiled Club Future Nostalgia, a thrilling remixed version on which the singer teamed up with club queen The Blessed Madonna, and guests including Madonna, Missy Elliott, Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson, to bring lockdown-fatigued listeners another dose of escapism. “I didn’t think I’d be putting albums out during a global pandemic,” added Lipa. “But it’s just about creating experiences for everyone at home. That’s the most important thing for me now.” All of this, of course, is only just the beginning. “I really feel like I’m finding my feet,” said Lipa. “I feel so proud of Future Nostalgia as a whole and the most confident and the most myself making it. But I’m already planning the next move.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Dua Lipa 2016 15 Hotter Than Hell -2- 2016 30 Blow Your Mind (Mwah) -3- 2016 10 No Lie (Sean Paul feat. ![]() Fredo featuring Dave Money Talks ![]() 3rd single from Money Can't Buy Happiness Released: 29th January 2021 Label: Since 93 Chart Statistics NE (11/02/2021) | 3-11-19-22-28-38-38 Sales: 100k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 44 Sales 02 Audio Streaming 02 Video Streaming Video Biography London-based MC Fredo focuses his lyrics on his drug-dealing lifestyle, the streets that he calls home, and all the money he's made. Hailing from London's infamously tough Mozart Estate, Fredo was considered one of the leading figures in the notorious London gang Harrow Road Boys. He practiced his craft as an MC for years before emerging in 2016 with the single "They Ain't 100." The track immediately gained attention, including a small co-sign when Drake featured the song in his 30th birthday mix on OVO Sound Radio. The same year, he released two further singles, "Trapspot" and "Pattern Gang," before appearing on Kojo Funds and Abra Cadabra's hit single "Dun Talkin (Remix)" alongside Yxng Bane, Frisco, and JME. In 2017 Fredo elevated the hype he had already received, releasing his third single, "Get the Pot," early in the year, quickly followed by his debut appearance on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth. Both were in preparation for his debut mixtape, Get Rich or Get Recalled, which was released independently in March of that year. Fredo returned the following year with his second mixtape, Tables Turn, which featured collaborations with Not3s, Asco, and Kaos. That same year he also teamed up with South London's Dave for the single "Funky Friday." Hitting the top spot of the U.K. charts, the single propelled both MCs into the spotlight. At the beginning of 2019, Fredo delivered his proper debut album, Third Avenue. The Universal release saw him working once again with Dave, as well as Lil Dotz, on a collection of deftly produced trap cuts. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Fredo 2017 63 Change -1- 2018 83 YRF (GRM Daily feat.
