It was rumoured Graffiti my soul was lined up for the final single from what will the neighbours say, now that hear me out has got more exposure which of these would have worked best if one more single was released from WWTNS. I do think either would have kept the top 10 streak going but probably their lowest charting single to date at that point.

'Graffiti My Soul' every time, it is a pop masterpiece.
I never saw anything about there being another single lined up after 'Wake Me Up' though and I followed the era very closely at the time. |

Wikipedia which i know cant be trusted has the following in what will the neighbours say bio
"Graffiti My Soul" was going to be the sixth single released from the album, but was cancelled because the group wanted to start work on their third album. At the time i would have said grafitti my soul but its not a song i enjoy as much now and its exactly vice versa for hear me out. |

I don't recall that from the time either. Like two months after Wake Me Up's release we found out that they were planning to release a cover of Wicked Game, which they obviously ended up not doing.
Xenomania tweeted the other day that there was a deliberation between whether to go for Wake Me Up or Hear Me Out as single 4 though. |

I really don't see 'Hear Me Out' as a single in any capacity (unless it was significantly reworked or something), although it has been nice seeing it get some extra attention lately.

I think Hear Me Out might have worked with a big production overhaul. I love the track as an album highlight but it's a bit demo sounding for a single, or maybe just dated sounding now, but I think other tracks on the album sound a lot beefier and more accomplished production wise.
Still, I suspect it would have been a case of diminishing returns if there had been another single from the album after Wake Me Up, it sort of has No.9 and a quick drop out written all over it. I love Grafitti My Soul too but I'm not sure it would have done much better as a single at that point of the campaign, it finished at the right point I feel. I've nul voted though, as in their current form I'm not sure either would have been worth putting out as a single. This post has been edited by gooddelta: 24th March 2021, 11:34 PM |

Hear me out is a great track and I prefer to some of their actual singles. I do agree though that another single would have prob been a 9-27-42 type chart run.

Actually I agree, the album has so many classic songs on it but I can't think what else would work as an actual single and they ended the era at the right point.

That's the great thing with albums, when you revisit them you can take to songs that may previously have escaped you, hear me out def falls into this category for me.

Xenomania tweeted the other day that there was a deliberation between whether to go for Wake Me Up or Hear Me Out as single 4 though. That's interesting. Not sure if 'Hear Me Out' would have done any better specifically as a single but maybe it would have done more for the album? 'Wake Me Up' couldn't get the album back in the Top 40 but potentially a ballad, particularly following 'I'll Stand By You' which gave the girls their first Top 10 radio hit since their debut, would have boosted sales. I'm happy with how things turned out though. As for the poll, I'm not fussed about either being a single. 'Graffiti My Soul' is a great track and I know it's a bit of a fan fave but I've never seen it as a missed single opportunity. 'Hear Me Out' has definitely shot up in my affections following recent events but was never one I particularly took notice of before. |

The right decisions were prob made on reflection plus the deluxe re releases werent really a thing then but if they were they could have pushed their album sales more.
I wonder will we see them ever release a full scale rarities type album, I'd love a ten re release with a bonus disc. |

From this poll - 'Hear Me Out', but always wanted a single release of "Here We Go" and "Big Brother" instead "Love Machine".

Love Machine is a highlight among their singles.
Hear Me Out is a constant on my playlist now. |

Hear me out is leading me to revisit more album tracks such as big brother and graffiti my soul.

Love machine is such a classic Girls Aloud track and was iconic for the time even being covered by Artic Monkeys! Can't imagine that not being in their singles discography even if it's not particularly a favourite, it's certainly the most iconic track of theirs from WWTNS and I'd put in their top 3 most remembered songs.
