Hello, just a quick question if anyone can point me in the right direction… I’m trying to find the exact release date for a single from the 90’s and all I can find so far is that it was released sometime in 1996 originally. Is there a website I can use to find the exact date a song of that time period was first released in the UK?

Assuming it charted, take away 12 days from the chart entry date and that should usually give you your answer.

Both 45cat.com and 45worlds.com have release dates for many singles going back to the 1950s. Not all are listed though.

What's the single?

Now that the song has been revealed as my latest entry in the BuzzJack Song Contest, I can reveal that the song I’m looking for the original release date for was by Bentley Rhythm Ace and the song title is Bentley’s Gonna Sort You Out! which, according to mist sources, was some point in 1996 (either as a single or EP).

The 90s single had nothing to do with the word 'resource' in the title then - an act called Human Resource had a 1991 rave hit with The Complete Dominator.

25th August 1997 was its charting week (31st being the sunday) so wouldn't it have been released on this day?

EDIT: Just seen it was a re-release

My source says: 12" vinyl, released 15 April 1996. Cat: SKINT 8

It didn't chart sadly.

Hope that helps !
